Article Synopsis
  • Norovirus (NoV) is a leading cause of non-bacterial gastroenteritis outbreaks, and traditional genotyping methods may provide limited and potentially misleading data.
  • A new method combining NoV capture and next-generation sequencing (NGS) significantly increased the detection of NoV, achieving over 90% genome coverage in many samples.
  • This improved approach allowed for the identification of more genotypes and the discovery of a new NoV recombinant, enhancing the accuracy of outbreak investigations and its potential use for studying other viruses in stool samples.
