The accumulation of essential and non-essential heavy metals in living organisms reduces normal growth and development, resulting in acute poisoning, disease and even death of organisms. Melatonin is a very important multifunctional molecule in protecting plants from oxidative stress due to its ability to directly neutralize reactive oxygen species (ROS).

This work aimed to examine the influence of the storage period on the content of toxic elements (As, Cd, Hg, and Pb) in five types of canned meat products regularly used in the Serbian Armed Forces. Cans of beef goulash (BG), pork ragout (PR), spam (SP), liver pate (LP), and meatballs in tomato sauce (MB), produced according to military standards and stored under regular conditions, were analyzed. Meat products were packed in tin cans made according to special requirements in terms of tin and varnish application and stored for up to 6 years.

Purpose: Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is the most commonly used material in the production of dental prostheses, and its application is often accompanied by the formation of biofilm. The aim of this work was the preparation of a PMMA/gold nanoparticles (AuNps) composite to improve the antimicrobial properties of heat-polymerised PMMA. The AuNPs were synthesised from gold (III) acetate by Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis (USP).
