: Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a severe medical condition involving the cessation of the heart's mechanical activity. Following the chain of survival, which includes early recognition and calling for help, early initiation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), early defibrillation, and post-resuscitation care, offers the greatest chances of saving a person who has experienced SCA. The aim of this study was to analyze cases of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) and assess the actions taken by bystanders.

Methods: A cross-sectional analysis was performed of gender representation in editorial board members of 2 North American cardiothoracic surgery journals from 2008 to 2023. Member names and roles were collected from available monthly issues.

Living in disadvantaged neighborhoods linked to less intervention for severe aortic stenosis.

To investigate the association between area deprivation index (ADI) and aortic valve replacement (AVR) in patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS). Patients aged 40-95 years with severe AS confirmed by echocardiography were included. The 9-digit zip code of patient residence address was used to identify the ADI ranking, based on which patients were divided into 5 groups (with Group E being most deprived).

The number of nuclei in compacted embryos, assessed by optical coherence microscopy, is a non-invasive and robust marker of mouse embryo quality.

Optical coherence microscopy (OCM) visualizes nuclei in live, unlabeled cells. As most cells are uninucleated, the number of nuclei in embryos may serve as a proxy of the cell number, providing important information on developmental status of the embryo. Importantly, no other non-invasive method currently allows for the cell number count in compacted embryos.

In Brief: Optical coherence microscopy non-invasively visualizes metaphase II spindles allowing for quantitative analysis of their volume and shape, which may prove useful in the assessment of the oocyte quality. Using a mouse model, we showed also that analysis of spindle length combined with morphokinetics improves the evaluation of the resulting embryos.

Abstract: The proper development of embryos strongly depends on the quality of oocytes, so the evaluation of oocytes may be a useful initial step in IVF procedures.

Ovulatory infertility is a serious clinical problem whose direct causes are still largely unknown. In addition to pathologies that make it impossible for a couple to establish a pregnancy, there are a number of other factors that have a bearing on fertility, including lifestyle factors, and particularly diet. Although numerous studies have been performed linking such factors to ovulatory infertility, most of them lack the necessary clinical significance, instead focusing on observational data and suggesting or establishing associative relationships.

Background: The aim of the study was to compare the diet of medical and non-medical students in relation to colorectal cancer risk factors.

Material And Methods: The study included 239 students of various universities in Bialystok, Poland. Respondents were divided into four groups: students of dietetics at the Medical University (SD), students of other fields of study at the Medical University (SMUB), students of the University of Technology (SBUT) and students of the University of Bialystok (SUB).

BACKGROUND This retrospective study from a single center in Poland was undertaken to evaluate the clinical utility of neutrophil-to-platelet ratio in therapy of 35 ulcerative colitis (UC) patients with infliximab or vedolizumab. MATERIAL AND METHODS This study included 35 patients: 16 were treated with infliximab and 19 were treated with vedolizumab. Treatment response was evaluated using partial Mayo score.

Aim: The aim of this study is to compare long-term results after using an MCAT (Modified Coronally Advanced Tunnel) with an SCTG (Subepithelial Connective Tissue Graft) or an MCAT with CM (Collagen Matrices) in the treatment of Cairo recession Type 1 in mandibular single-rooted teeth.

Material And Method: The study encompassed 80 recessions in 18 patients for whom an MCAT was combined with CM on one side of the mandible and with an SCTG on the contralateral one.
