In cattle, 17β-estradiol (E2) is essential for triggering luteolysis via the synthesis of prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α). We aimed to evaluate the effects of E2-treatment on day 15 of the estrous cycle on the transcript abundance of genes involved in the PGF2α synthetic cascade. Nelore heifers (N = 50) were subjected to a hormonal protocol for the synchronization of ovulation.

This report presents improved analysis methods of daunorubicin (DAUN) and its metabolite daunorubicinol (DAUNOL) in small volumes of plasma, as total and unbound concentrations, as well as in urine. This study also presents the pharmacokinetics of DAUN and DAUNOL in patients (n = 12) diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia treated with intravenous DAUN (60 mg/m/day, for three days). Serial blood and urine samples were collected up to 144 h after the beginning of the first infusion.

Doxorubicin (DOX) is a cytotoxic drug which has remained as an essential component of chemotherapy regiment for breast cancer. The cardiotoxicity of DOX is related to the accumulation of its main metabolite doxorubicinol (DOXOL) in the cardiac tissue. Although the pharmacokinetics of DOX shows high interindividual variability, there are no significant covariates to improve dose adjustment.

Peri-ovulatory endocrine regulation of the prostanoid pathways in the bovine uterus at early dioestrus.

We hypothesised that different endocrine profiles associated with pre-ovulatory follicle (POF) size would impact on uterine prostanoid pathways and thereby modulate the histotroph composition. Beef cows (n=15 per group) were hormonally manipulated to have small (SF-SCL group) or large (LF-LCL group) pre-ovulatory follicles (POF) and corpora lutea (CL). Seven days after induction of ovulation, animals were slaughtered and uterine tissues and flushings were collected for quantification of prostanoids.

Background: In cattle, recent studies have shown positive associations between pre-ovulatory concentrations of estradiol (E2), progesterone (P4) at early diestrus and fertility. However, information on cellular and molecular mechanisms through which sex steroids regulate uterine function to support early pregnancy is lacking. Based on endometrial transcriptome data, objective was to compare function of the redox system in the bovine uterus in response to different periovulatory endocrine milieus.

Carbapenem resistance among Acinetobacter baumannii strains isolated from clinical settings in Brazil has increased dramatically in the last 10 years due to the emergence and dissemination of OXA-type carbapenemase encoding genes. This study aimed to characterize the presence of carbapenem-hydrolyzing class D β-lactamases (CHDL)-encoding genes and clonal complexes playing a major role in the dissemination of OXA-carbapenemase-producing A. baumannii in Southeast Brazil.
