Biochemical Composition, Antioxidant Capacity and Protective Effects of Three Fermented Plants Beverages on Hepatotoxicity and Nephrotoxicity Induced by Carbon Tetrachloride in Mice.

Functional beverages play an essential role in our modern life and contribute to nutritional well-being. Current efforts to understand and develop functional beverages to promote health and wellness have been enhanced. The present study aimed to investigate the production of three fermented plants beverages (FPBs) from aromatic and medicinal plants and to evaluate the fermented product in terms of physio-biochemical composition, the aromatic compounds, antioxidant activity, and in vivo protective effects on hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl).

Inhibition of avian influenza virus H9N2 infection by antiviral hexapeptides that target viral attachment to epithelial cells.

The H9N2 subtype of influenza A virus circulates frequently among poultry in Asian and North African countries causing economic loss in the poultry sector. The antigenic variations of the H9N2 virus were at the origin of its genetic evolution through the emergence of viral strains transmissible to humans and resistant to chemical antivirals, which require a strengthening of the fight means against this virus. In this study, we used a random linear hexapeptide library fused to the gene III protein of M13 filamentous bacteriophage to select new antiviral peptides that inhibit the infectivity of H9N2 virus.

Unusual cause of laryngeal dyspnea and swallowing troubles in a 2-year old child.

Plexiform neurofibromas are rare benign tumors developed from peripheral nervous system often associated with neurofibromatosis type 1. We report the case of multifocal plexiform neurofibromas in a 2-year-old child with cervical mass obstructing the trachea causing respiratory distress. A cervical ultrasound examination was performed followed by enhanced CT and MRI.

Contribution of imaging in the management of resistant tuberculosis.

Introduction: Resistant tuberculosis is a topical subject given the difficulties of its management.

Objective: To evaluate the role of imaging in the diagnosis and follow-up of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB).

Methods: Retrospective study of MDR-TB cases followed in Hall C of Abderrahmane Mami Hospital (2010 to 2016).

Thermoprotective properties of Opuntia ficus-indica f. inermis cladodes and mesocarps on sheep lymphocytes.

This study aims to investigate the thermoprotective properties of Opuntia ficus-indica f. inermis. Extracts were prepared from cladodes (CE) and mesocarps (ME), then subjected to a spectrophotometric and LC-MS analyses.

[Clinical and pathological profile of the pleural malignant mesothelioma: A retrospective study about 30 cases].

Background: The malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare tumour usually associated to asbestos exposure. The delay between the exposure and the occurrence of the cancer can reach 40 years. This caused the pick of incidence described in many countries including Tunisia.

Implantable port thrombosis in cancer patients: a monocentric experience.

Objective: Implantable port thrombosis (IPT) in cancer patients is a relatively rare but severe complication. Several factors are reportedly associated with the occurrence of thrombosis. We aimed to describe the prevalence and the anatomoclinical features of IPT observed in cancer patients who were treated in a medical oncology department in Tunisia.

[Medical therapies for locally advanced/metastatic kidney cancer].

Aims: To analyze the medical literature concerning the results of the international randomized muticentric trials concerning therapeutic innovations, mainly targeted therapies in locally advanced and or metastatic renal cell cancer and to evaluate the benefit of these TT.

Methods: We performed a review of publications that concerned this topic published from 2000 to 2014.

Results: They concerned the large randomized trials have showed a benefit of the targeted therapies in the treatment of clear cell carcinomas in terms of progression-free survival.

Simultaneous alteration of residues 279 and 284 of the VP2 major capsid protein of a very virulent Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (vvIBDV) strain did not lead to attenuation in chickens.

Background: Cell culture adaptation of very virulent infectious bursal disease virus (vvIBDV) was shown to be mainly associated with the VP2 capsid protein residues 253, 279, and 284. The single mutation A284T proved critical for cell culture tropism, but did not confer efficient virus replication, which at least required one additional mutation, Q253H or D279N. While the double mutation Q253H/A284T was unambiguously shown to confer both efficient replication in cell culture and attenuation in chickens, conflicting results have been reported regarding the replication efficiency of vvIBDV mutants bearing the D279N/A284T double mutation, and no data are hitherto available on their virulence in chickens.

Evaluation of protection conferred by a vaccination program based on the H120 and CR88 commercial vaccines against a field variant of avian infectious bronchitis virus.

Due to serotype variations among different avian infectious bronchitis viruses isolated in Tunisia since 2000, protection of chicks, especially broiler flocks, with Mass H120 vaccine often fails. Therefore, association of CR88 (793B type) with H120 vaccines was used for better response. Challenge experiments were then conducted to evaluate tracheal and renal cross-protection in chickens immunized via nasal and eye drops.

[Incidence of venous thromboembolism in men admitted to a pneumology unit for acute respiratory disease].

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a major source of morbidity and mortality all over the world. It is one of the complications arising in a hospital environment. The main aim of this study is to estimate the incidence of VTE in respiratory inpatients.

[Etiology and evolution of bronchiectasis in women].

Introduction: Although considered as an orphan disease in the developed countries, bronchiectasis are frequent in our country as in all emerging ones. They are most common in women and they represent a frequent cause for consultation and hospitalization in pulmonology departments.

Patients And Methods: To determine the etiology and prognosis of the bronchectasies in women, a retrospective study was performed including 200 patients.

[Pulmonary atinomycosis: a great clinical polymorphism].

Background: Pulmonary actinomycosis is a rare bacteriological disease, caracterized by local suppuration and an extensive fibroinflammatory process, with a possible pseudotumoral outcome.

Aim: To report a new observation of a pulmonary actinomycosis.

Case Report: A 52-year-old patient, smoker, admitted in our department for infectious pneumopathy complicated by purulent pleurisy.

Hydroalcoholic extract based-ointment from Punica granatum L. peels with enhanced in vivo healing potential on dermal wounds.

The present study reports for the first time, the in vivo wound healing potential of Punica granatum L. peels. A 5% (w/w) methanolic extract based-ointment was formulated and evaluated for its wound healing in guinea pigs.

[Neoplasic vena cava syndrome].

Background: Vena cava superior syndrome results of an obstruction of superior vein cava(SVC)and/or brachiocaphalic venous troncs by extrinsic compression and/or by tumoral or cruoric thrombosis. The bronchopulmonary cancer represents the most frequent aetiology.

Aim: The aim of this study is to establish clinical, radiological, evolutive profiles and modalities of treatment of neoplasic vena cava superior syndrome independently of its histological type.

[Rare localization of sarcoma in an adolescent: thoracic Ewing sarcoma].

Background: Ewing Sarcoma is considered as primitive neuro ectodermic tumor. It's the most frequent osseous tumor in children and adolescent. It was localised frequently at long osseous and pelvis, however, it can be arising from the rib.

[Pleural empyema revealing osteopoikilosis].

Introduction: Osteopoikilosis is a rare, inherited and usually asymptomatic sclerosing bone dysplasia of unknown etiology which predominantly involves the appendicular and rarely the axial skeleton.

Case Report: We report the case of a 24 year old man who was hospitalized for pleural empyema and treated with antibiotics for six weeks in addition to pleural evacuation and physiotherapy. The diagnosis of osteopoikilosis associated with the pleural empyema was made on the radiological findings.
