Spinal cord hemangiomas are rare vascular malformations that can cause neurological deficits. We report a case of a 57-year-old male who previously underwent spondylolisthesis reduction for treatment of a 30% (1 cm) anterolisthesis of L4-L5 with continued neurological deficit post-operatively. The patient still reported bilateral lower extremity weakness, and he was found to have an additional ovoid intramedullary lesion at the T2-T3 level, pathologically consistent with a hemangioma.

Background: Several studies have shown that women are usually undertreated and have worse outcomes after ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), hence the need to investigate questions related to sex in Brazil to better deal with the problem.

A brief unexplained resolved event (BRUE) is an event observed in a child under 1 year of age in which the observer witnesses a sudden, brief but resolved episode of change in skin color, lack of breathing, weakness or poor responsiveness. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is the causative agent of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19). Background: Breast intraoperative electron radiation therapy (B-IOERT) can be used in clinical practice both as elective irradiation (partial breast irradiation - APBI) in low risk breast cancer patients, and as an anticipated boost. The procedure generally includes the use of a shielding disk between the residual breast and the pectoralis fascia for the protection of the tissues underneath the target volume. Background: In view of the upcoming demographic transition, there is still no clear evidence on how increasing life expectancy will affect future disease burden, especially regarding specific diseases. In our study, we project the future development of Germany's ten most common non-infectious diseases (arthrosis, coronary heart disease, pulmonary, bronchial and tracheal cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cerebrovascular diseases, dementia, depression, diabetes, dorsal pain and heart failure) in a Markov illness-death model with recovery until 2060.

Methods: The disease-specific input data stem from a consistent data set of a major sickness fund covering about four million people, the demographic components from official population statistics.

Aim: During radiotherapy, in patients with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) malfunctions are considered more likely if doses more than 2 Gy reach the ICD site; however, most malfunctions occur with high-energy (>10 MV) radiations, and the risk is less defined using 6-MV linear accelerators. Conventional linear accelerators (LINACs) for radiotherapy produce fast secondary neutrons due to photonuclear processes. The neutron presence is considered as an extra undesired dose during the radiotherapy treatment, which could cause secondary radio-induced tumors and malfunctions to cardiological implantable devices. Aims: Malfunctions of cardiac implantable electronical devices (CIED) have been described after high-energy radiation therapy even in the absence of direct exposure to ionizing radiation, due to diffusion of neutrons (n) causing soft errors in inner circuits. The purpose of the study was to analyse the effect of scattered radiation on different types and models of CIED and the possible sources of malfunctions.

The irritant capacity of several anionic, amphoteric and non-ionic surfactants has been studied by non-invasive techniques, specifically by evaporimetry, laser Doppler flowmetry and one-dimensional cutaneous ecography. Some of the surfactants most frequently used in shampoos and shower/foam gels were selected for testing. A series of aqueous solutions containing 5% of the active material in these products was patched onto normal skin; controls for comparison were set up with water and with sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), a recognized irritant standard substance.
