The value of tongue base mucosectomy in the work-up of squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary: A Danish national cohort study.

Introduction: Squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary in the head and neck (HNSCCUP) remains a diagnostic challenge. Tongue base mucosectomy by transoral robotic surgery (TORS-TBM) can increase the diagnostic yield and de-intensify treatment. However, the added value of TORS-TBM as an adjunct to work-up programs for HNSCCUP is unclear.

Days alive and out of hospital following primary surgery for oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma.

Background: Days Alive and Out of Hospital (DAOH) is a recently introduced, readily obtainable postoperative outcome measure method that expresses procedure and disease-associated morbidity and mortality. In this study, we evaluated DAOH with 30- and 365-days follow-up periods after primary surgery (DAOH and DAOH, respectively) for patients with oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The aim of this study is to identify patient-, procedure- and disease-associated risk factors for patients treated with primary surgery for primary OSCC.

[Myocardial injury and infarction is an overlooked complication after non-cardiac surgery].

Annually, several million patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery develop myocardial injury or a myocardial infarction in the perioperative period. This frequent complication is associated with a high mortality. Despite an increasing focus on the issue the pathophysiology and the treatment of perioperative myocardial injury and infarction still remains partly unclear.
