Using the self-consistent field approach, we studied the salt-controlled vertical segregation of mixed polymer brushes immersed into a selective solvent. We considered brushes containing two types of chains: polyelectrolyte (charged) chains and neutral chains. The hydrophobicity of both types of chains is characterized by the Flory-Huggins parameters χC and χN, respectively.

A method for correcting the matrix effect by measuring the intensity of fluorescent radiation and its absorption by the sample material in the same x-ray optical scheme is proposed. The use of a complex secondary Ag-Ge emitter as a primary radiation source provides a low detection limit for a wide range of chemical elements from Ca (Z = 20) to Mo (Z = 42) in the K-series and from Cd (Z = 48) to Bi (Z = 83) in the L-series. To measure the absorption, the radiation of an additional secondary emitter is used, of which the wavelength can be varied in the range from 0.

Article Synopsis
  • Hydroelectric dams, like those on the Angara River, create reservoirs that support new aquatic ecosystems, influencing the distribution of microorganisms.
  • A study of silica-scaled chrysophytes in South Baikal and Irkutsk Reservoir identified 31 species; however, only 7 were found in South Baikal, while Irkutsk Reservoir hosted a dominant species alongside three others.
  • The highest species diversity (23 species) was observed in a shallow bay of Irkutsk Reservoir, likely due to optimal temperature and pH conditions, along with nutrient levels that favored growth.

We calculate energies of shallow donors confined in a rolled-up quantum well in the presence of the electric field by solving numerically the Schrödinger equation in natural curvilinear coordinates. It is found that the curves of density of states (DOSs) are very sensitive to the variation of the donor position, the geometry of the spiral and the applied electric field value. Novel results for dependencies of donor's dipole moment and its polarizability on the electric field strength and its orientation, for different donor positions are presented.

Metabarcoding using high throughput sequencing of amplicons of the 18S rRNA gene is one of the widely used methods for assessing the diversity of microeukaryotes in various ecosystems. We investigated the effectiveness of the V4 and V8-V9 regions of the 18S rRNA gene by comparing the results of metabarcoding microeukaryotic communities using the DADA2 (ASV), USEARCH-UNOISE3 (ZOTU), and USEARCH-UPARSE (OTU with 97% similarity) algorithms. Both regions showed similar levels of genetic variability and taxa identification accuracy.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) - mesenchymal cells in the tumor stroma, play one of the leading roles in tumor progression in many different tumors, including colorectal cancer. Scientists have described many markers for CAFs, but none of them is specific. We performed immunohistochemistry tests using five antibodies (αSMA, POD, FAP, PDGFRα, PDGFRβ) to investigate CAFs in three zones of 49 colorectal adenocarcinomas: apical, central, and invasive edge.

The microstructure of the binary polymer brushes in the selective solvent was studied using the numerical lattice self-consisting field approach. The case was considered when the selectivity to the solvent (the Flory-Huggins parameter χ) was varied only for one type of chains (responsive chains) while the others (non-responsive chains) remained hydrophilic (χ = 0). In such a brush, with an increase in the hydrophobicity of the responsive chains, a transition occurs between two two-layer microstructures.

The problems of licensing and licensing control of medical activities in the Russian Federation are related to the fundamental responsibility of healthcare - to comply with federal standards of safety, quality and accessibility. The introduction of special diagnostic equipment into the activities of the institutions of medical and social expertise of the Russian Federation and the obligation to use it for expert needs from 2022 has become the time to answer the questions: what are the safety and quality requirements when carrying out work using special diagnostic equipment; whether the organizational and managerial schemes of the activities of institutions of medical and social expertise should change; whether this is a new level of development of medical and social expertise or an expansion of the competencies of functional diagnostics; Are we standing at the origins of a new type of medical activity, and is there much new in this? Answers to these questions should not be expected from the future, putting at risk, in a period of uncertainty and searching for solutions, the life and health of patients, but it is advisable to look in the history of domestic medicine and science, their best practices, adapting them to the strict compliance with the legal field of our country today today.
