Elderly and old patients with subacute myocardial infarction showed elevated gastrointestinal digoxin absorption rates and a tendency to increased bioavailability of the drug, as compared to similar parameters in infarction-free patients of the same age, so that blood digoxin peaks were higher in the former. The demonstrated absorption changes may be related to limited physical activity of the myocardial infarction patients examined. Digoxin pharmacokinetic patterns are analysed with reference to baseline myocardial contractility.

[Effect of weak alternating ultra-low frequency magnetic fields on the development of the hypercoagulation syndrome in immobilized rats].

The experimental results are given concerning the effect of variable magnetic field (VMF) with the frequency of 8 Hz and intensity 4 A/m on some parameters of rat haemocoagulation system under standard mobile regime as well as under prolonged hypokinesia. It is stated that repeated daily exposition of VMF causes hypocoagulational blood shift in intact animals. Under the effect of simultaneous VMF and hypokinesia the correction of hypercoagulational shift induced by animal hypokinesia was detected.

[Retrospective electrophoretic analysis of the individual precipitates from the dried and stained immunoelectrophoregrams of crystalline lens proteins].

Electrophoretic analysis of pattern of polypeptides making part of precipitation arcs (peaks) cut out of predried and stained immunoelectrophoregrams has been shown to be possible. The cut out precipitation arcs were extracted overnight by a starting buffer for SDS-electrophoresis, centrifuged, and supernatants were subjected to SDS-electrophoresis; electrophoregrams were stained by silver nitrate. Electrophoretic pattern of polypeptides from the stained and "native" precipitation arcs for the same antigens were shown to be identical.

[Retrospective analysis of the quality of medical care for hypertension patients based on figures on those dying suddenly].

The standards of the health services for patients who died suddenly from essential hypertension, rendered during the last three years of life of these patients (from 1977 to 1980), were evaluated on the basis of the medical documentation. It is concluded that examination and treatment of outpatients suffering from essential hypertension fell short of ideal. Elimination of the shortcomings discovered could be promoted by introduction of annual dispensarization of the entire population.

[Clinico-morphologic comparisons in villous and adenovillous tumors of the colon].

The data on 330 cases of villous and tubular-villous adenoma of the colon were analysed. The results of histological examination of resected material were compared with the evidence provided by clinico-endoscopic examination as well as preoperative bioptic findings. Since none of the above procedures proved to be of diagnostic value in detective invasive growth of villous tumor, it makes the case for total biopsy as the only reliable diagnostic procedure.

[Morphogens: experimental illusion or reality?].

The main attention is paid to the critical analysis of experimental data on morphogenetically active substances, so called "morphogens". It is proposed to consider the morphogens as specific transmitters providing for definite phases of morphogenetic tissues interactions, rather than as vectors of "morphogenetic information". In the normal development, the most studied morphogenetic tissue interactions can be referred to as so called permissive inductions, since the cells of the vertebrate embryos (amphibians, avians) are early determined for development in the ectomeso--and endodermal directions.
