Background: Exergaming is potentially useful to promote physical activity in children; however, long-term effectiveness is unclear. MobileKids Monster Manor (MKMM) is a mobile exergame developed with the help of young advisors. The game wirelessly transmits physical activity data from an accelerometer to a mobile device.

Physical inactivity is increasing among children globally and has been directly linked to the growing problems of overweight and obesity. We aim to assess the impact of a new mobile exergame, MobileKids Monster Manor (MKMM), in a school-based setting. MKMM, developed with input from youth to enhance physical activity, is wirelessly connected to an accelerometer-based activity monitor.

It has been postulated that interactive video game exercise has greater metabolic requirements than traditional cycling; however, this has not been tested to date.
Purpose: To examine the metabolic requirements of interactive video game exercise in comparison to traditional stationary cycling at matched incremental workloads.
The chronology of the antibody response to Dirofilaria immitis was measured in 2 groups of experimentally infected Beagle dogs. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), using a semipurified, adult D immitis-derived antigen was used to quantitate antibody levels. Group A consisted of 4 dogs inoculated once with D immitis infective larvae, 4 dogs inoculated twice with D immitis infective larvae, and 4 noninoculated dogs.

The type II cells in these cultures retained in their cytoplasm multilamellar bodies which were morphologically identical to similar organelles present in type II cells of intact human fetal and adult lung. A number of respiratory viruses infected the cells and produced a cytopathic effect in the cultures.

There was a considerable variation in the number of rounded cells found in different colonies exposed to rhinovirus types 2 and 9 (RV2 and 9), human coronavirus 229E (HCV), adenovirus type 3 (Ad3) and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Smaller colonies had more rounded cells than larger colonies.

The aim of this work has been to isolate and characterize new diploid cell strains, suitable for large-scale production of human fibroblast interferon. Twenty cell strains were isolated from individual neonatal foreskins obtained with the informed consent of the donors' parents. The techniques employed for the isolation of the cell strains were aimed at obtaining the highest possible yield of normal diploid cells, free of contaminating microorganism and viruses.
