Sensitive skin (SS) is associated with discomfort, including burning, stinging, and itching. These symptoms are often exacerbated by environmental factors and personal care products. In this genome-wide association study (GWAS), we aimed to identify the genetic variants associated with SS in 1690 Korean female participants; 389 and 1301 participants exhibited sensitive and non-sensitive skin, respectively.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play key roles in cellular pathways and disease progression, yet their molecular mechanisms remain largely understudied. The lncRNA lncTCF7 has been shown to promote tumor progression by recruiting the SWI/SNF complex to the TCF7 promoter, activating its expression and the WNT signaling pathway. However, how lncTCF7 recruits SWI/SNF remains to be determined, and lncTCF7-specific binding partners are unknown.

This study investigated the risk factors for workplace sexual harassment in South Korea using cross-sectional data of the 2014 and 2017 Korean Working Conditions Survey (KWCS). A generalized linear model specified with a Poisson distribution and log link function was performed. Females, younger adults, jobs in services or sales, tasks that involve visiting places where clients reside, and significant work time contribution to customers were associated with increased gender harassment and unwanted sexual attention.

When conducting risk assessments of cosmetic ingredients, it is important that reliable exposure information is obtained for cosmetic products. As cosmetics are becoming more diverse, continuous effort must be made to obtain exposure data that reflect their growth and usage trends. The usage pattern of cosmetics, such as the application area and amount used, may differ by product type and also by country.

Given increasing concerns about using e-cigarettes among females, understanding the patterns of using e-cigarettes in females compared to males is critical. Methyl gallate (meGAL) is known as one of major antioxidants. To investigate whether meGAL protects human cells from oxidative stress, meGAL extracted from Korean medicinal plant, Cercis chinensis leaves, was primarily screened using cell viability assay against oxidative stress. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) were treated with three different concentrations of meGAL for indicated time.
