The aim of this study was to investigate the role of microRNA-194 and microRNA-1228 in colon cancer proliferation.
Methods: RNA was extracted from patients with colon cancer with or without advanced disease and microRNA expression levels were determined through qRT-PCR.
Purpose: Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy on serum and other biofluids for cancer diagnosis represents an emerging field, which has shown promising preliminary results in several types of malignancies. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that SERS spectroscopy on serum can be employed for the differential diagnosis between five of the leading malignancies, ie, breast, colorectal, lung, ovarian and oral cancer.
Patients And Methods: Serum samples were acquired from healthy volunteers (n=39) and from patients diagnosed with breast (n=42), colorectal (n=109), lung (n=33), oral (n=17), and ovarian cancer (n=13), comprising n=253 samples in total.
Hereditary spherocytosis (HS) is a common inherited hemolytic anemia caused by a defective erythrocyte cellular membrane. Irrespective of type of surgery performed, several case reports comparing the two type of procedures, have not proven any significant difference between serum bilirubin, serum hemoglobin, red blood cells' and platelets' count, in the followup period at 6 and 12 months respectively, even if platelet count has maintained high for the first 6 months postoperatively, justifying an oral antiplatelet therapy for this time interval. In the present work, we present the use of LS as the treatment of choice for HS as a case series, with all the characteristics.

Case Report: The present manuscript describes a rare case of a combined haemophilia A and B patient, who underwent several extractions.

MicroRNAs (miRs) are small non-coding RNA molecules that are known to regulate the gene expression at a post-transcriptional level through complementary base pairing with thousands of messenger (m)RNAs. Recent data has shown the involvement of miRs in the pathogenesis of many human cancers, including those of the liver, with huge possible impact in the clinic, mainly due to the identification of non-coding RNAs as biomarkers that can often be detected in the systemic circulation.
