Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a malignant condition of lymphoid progenitor cells that primarily affects the pediatric population, but also adults. The 5-year survival rate is 90% in children and approximately 40% in adults, with survival increasing through the use of peripheral stem cell allotransplantation (SCT). The relapse rate after stem cell transplantation (SCT) in adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) patients ranges from 35% to 45%, making relapse a major cause of death in this population.

The present study aimed to conduct a comparative investigation of the biological properties of phenolic and polysaccharide extracts obtained using an ultrasound-assisted technique from gel and their effects on each stage of the wound healing process in in vitro experimental models. HPLC analysis showed that the phenolic extract contained aloin, ferulic, and caffeic acid, as well as quercetin dihydrate, as major compounds. Capillary zone electrophoresis indicated the prevalence of mannose and glucose in the polysaccharide extract.

Marine glycosaminoglycans (GAG) isolated from different invertebrates, such as molluscs, starfish or jellyfish, have been described as unique molecules with important pharmacological applications. Scarce information is available on GAG extract from Rapana venosa marine snail. The aim of this study was to isolate a GAG extract from R.

The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy (rESWT) and conventional physical therapy (CPT) protocol on the gait pattern in stroke survivors through a new gait analysis technology. Fifteen (n=15) stroke survivors took part in this prospective, observational study and were assessed clinically and through an instrumented treadmill before and after rESWT and CPT. Spasticity grade 95% CI 0.

The development of highly efficient sunlight-driven photocatalysts has triggered increased attention due to their merit in effluent treatment through a chemically green approach. To this end, we present herein the synthesis and characterization of the TiO/3D-GF/Ni hybrid emphasizing the main structural and morphological properties and the photodegradation process of a highly resistant aromatic azo dye, methyl orange, under both UV light and simulated sunlight. Three-dimensional (3D) graphene was grown by the thermal CVD method on the nickel foam and subsequently coated with thin films of anatase employing the sol-gel method.

The aim of this study was to investigate the melissopalynology, physicochemical characteristics, antioxidant and antibacterial activity of seven honey samples harvested from different geographical regions and climates of Romania. The melissopalynological analysis revealed that monofloral and multifloral samples contained a wide diversity of minor pollen types from Romanian flora. The moisture, pH and free acidity values were within international limit.

The aim of this case report is to present an early individualized rehabilitative plan for a post-stroke patient with limb spasticity given that stroke is a leading cause for disability that involves prolonged hospital stay and neurorehabilitation strategies. The rehabilitation plan consisted of conventional physical therapy and radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy (rESWT), and the results were evaluated through clinical assessment together with an innovative gait analysis system. Two rESWT sessions and conventional physical therapy program decreased spasticity grade and pain intensity, and improved ankle range of motion, balance and gait.

Introduction: The complexity of spasticity requires a continuous effort in terms of more adapted treatments for patients, and accurate management. Through this systematic review, we aimed to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) with botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) on reducing spasticity both in children and adults.

Evidence Acquisition: An electronic search of PubMed/Medline, Scopus, Ovid Medline(R), and search engine of Google Scholar was performed.

Stroke remains one of the leading causes of disability in adults, and lower limb spasticity, affected stance, and balance impact everyday life and activities of such patients. Robotic therapy and assessment are becoming important tools to clinical evaluation for post-stroke rehabilitation. The aim of this study was to determine in a more objective manner the effects of visual feedback balance training through a balance trainer system and radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy (rESWT), along with conventional physiotherapy, on lower limb post-stroke spasticity, trunk control, and static and dynamic balance through clinical and stabilometric assessment.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, stroke remains a leading cause of death and disability. Since the approach towards patients, treatments, and follow-up regimens has changed, tele-rehabilitation became a pillar for patients with ongoing recovery processes and rehabilitation strategies, especially for post-stroke patients. We describe the case of a 50-year-old male, suffering from right spastic hemiplegia and patellar clonus, for whom rehabilitation services were delivered both in-person (conventional physical therapy and radial extracorporeal shock wave therapy) as well as with the aid of a tele-rehabilitation program.

BACKGROUND Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a rare form of herpes zoster caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus in the geniculate ganglion. The main clinical manifestations are peripheral facial palsy, vesicular rash in the ear, and ipsilateral auricular pain, and sometimes vertigo. COVID-19 is a new multisystemic infectious disease that, in addition to common respiratory manifestations, it is known to affect the immune system, primarily depressing cellular immunity.

The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to evaluate the long-term efficacy of Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) on reducing lower limb post-stroke spasticity in adults. A systematic electronic search of PubMed/ MEDLINE, Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), Scopus, Ovid MEDLINE(R), and search engine of Google Scholar was performed. Publications that ranged from January 2010 to August 2020, published in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian language and available as full texts were eligible for inclusion and they were searched without any restrictions of country.

  • The study investigates the use of therapeutic contact lenses (TCL) in 86 patients, focusing on their benefits and limitations.
  • Key benefits of TCL include pain relief, enhanced corneal healing, protective effects, improved hydration, better vision, and support for binocular vision.
  • While TCL is generally effective with few minor complications, it has limitations such as infection risk and issues with fitting in patients with irregular corneas.

Facial nerve palsy is impairing orbicular muscle function leading to lagophthalmos. This disease impairs patients' quality of life by exposure keratopathy which is accompanied by ocular pain and deteriorate visual acuity at a variable degree. The paper's aim is to show up the place of lagophthalmos in anterior ocular segment pathology and to evidence the results obtained by us with a new therapeutical method applied in several cases.

At two from them realised the complete blockade at the contractions with prisms and at two from en the partial blockade too with prisms. One of them presenting nystagmus associate with strabismus was surgical solved.
