Bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide as first-line treatment in naïve HIV patients in a rapid-initiation model of care: BIC-NOW clinical trial.

Objective: Multiple strategies have been utilised to reduce the incidence of HIV, including PrEP and rapid antiretroviral therapy initiation. The study objectives were to evaluate the efficacy, safety, satisfaction, treatment adherence, and system retention obtained with rapid initiation of bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (BIC/FTC/TAF) in naïve patients.

Methods: This phase IV, multicenter, open-label, single-arm, 48-week clinical trial enrolled patients between January 2020 and June 2022.

[Pediatric heart surgery minimally invasive: experience of a Colombian center].

Objective: During the last decades, cardiac surgery has revolutionized, there is a growing interest in minimizing the physical aggression of surgical procedures, seeking a quick recovery, minimally invasive approaches have been a trend in recent years, with safety and efficacy equivalent to traditional techniques sternotomy. The objective of this study is to compare ­clinical results between pediatric patients with congenital heart disease undergoing minimally invasive surgery versus standard sternotomy.

International telemedicine in pediatric cardiac critical care: a multicenter experience.

Objective: To describe our multicenter experience in telemedicine-assisted pediatric cardiac critical care (PCCC) with four hospitals in Latin America from July 2011 to June 2013.

Materials And Methods: This was a descriptive study based on telemedicine encounters related to quality of communication, assessed information, activities, and recommendations. Comparison among centers was performed.

Results of balloon atrial septostomy as preparation for surgical correction in transposition of great arteries.

Balloon atrial septostomy (BAS) is a palliative procedure performed in the preoperative management of patients with transposition of great arteries (TGA), to improve the mixing of blood between the 2 systems. This report describes experience at the Clínica Cardiovascular Santa Maria in Medellin, Colombia. Between 2002 and 2010, 22 patients with TGA underwent BAS.

No differences in quality of life between men and women undergoing HIV antiretroviral treatment. Impact of demographic, clinical and psychosocial factors.

Introduction: The health-related quality of life (HRQL) is therefore a highly important tool for the evaluation of the health status of HIV positive patients. However, very little information is available about the differences between HRQL in men and women. The aim of this study is to analyse gender differences in HRQL in HIV positive patients.
