Zebra mussel (Dreissena polymorpha) is considered as one of the 100 most harmful IAS in the world. Traditional detection methods have limitations, and PCR based environmental DNA detection has provided interesting results for early warning. However, in the last years, the development of isothermal amplification methods has received increasing attention.

In Spain, where this therapy is widely available, we aim to evaluate mortality trends and causes of death in HIV-infected adults, and to estimate the excess mortality compared to the general population. From 1999 to 2018 mortality by causes was analyzed in a population-based cohort of adults aged 25 to 74 years diagnosed with HIV infection in Spain.

The different molecular arrangement in both films is manifested in a red shift of the absorption, PL, and T1-Tn absorption spectra of the sublimated film relative to the spin-coated one. Triplet recombination dynamics studied with steady-state photoinduced absorption (PA) spectroscopy follow a dispersive bimolecular recombination model away from the trap filling regime.

It turns out that the quantum yield is strongly dependent on the nonradiative decay. The geometry, ground state, electronic structure, and excited electronic states of the investigated complexes have been calculated on the basis of density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT approaches, thus substantiating the electrochemical measurements and providing insight into the electronic origin of the absorption spectra and of the lowest excited states involved in the light emission process.

However, advances in psychometric techniques have allowed to incorporate a new dimension based on quality of life. Questionnaires aimed at measuring patients' health status outlook, now enable us to quantify the loss of quality of life caused by disease and the improvement that can be achieved by pharmacological treatments.

Our results indicate that 18-month-old rats showed a marked decrease in the expression and activity of liver PPARalpha, as shown by significant reductions in PPARalpha mRNA, protein and binding activity, resulting in a reduction in the relative mRNA levels of PPARalpha target genes, such as liver-carnitine-palmitoyl transferase-I (CPT-I) and mitochondrial medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (MCAD). Further, in accordance with a liver PPARalpha deficiency in old rats, treatment of old animals with a therapeutic dose of gemfibrozil (GFB) (3mg/kg per day, 21 days) was ineffective in reducing plasma triglyceride concentrations (TG), despite attaining a 50% reduction in TG when GFB was administered to young animals at the same dose and length of treatment.

To determine if brain PPARs are responsive to the in vivo administration of PPAR agonists in a similar way to those receptors present in other anatomical localizations, such as liver, we fed rats with gemfibrozil incorporated in the diet at a dose that activates hepatic PPARalpha and produces its typical hypolipidemic effect. Rat cortex nuclear extracts presented a pattern of two specific shifted bands when incubated with a PPRE oligonucleotide.

Four families of three-coordinate complexes of stoichiometry [Au[(PR(2))(2)C(2)B(10)H(10)]L]OTf (L = tertiary phosphine) and [Au[(PR(2))(2)C(2)B(9)H(10)]L] have been studied in order to analyze the influence of the closo- or nido-nature of the diphosphine, the monophosphine coordinated to gold and the substituent at the diphosphine on the luminescence of the complexes. Only the nido-derivatives show luminescence.
