Introduction: Although hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) be extensively studied, this disease still has a high mortality rate compared to other diseases treated as univentricular physiology. In this way, morphological differences between phenotypes within the spectrum of HLHS may be risk factors and their identification can assist in choosing treatment between subgroups.

Objective: To identify the most prevalent form of coronary artery dominance in hearts with HLHS groups with mitral atresia (MA) and mitral stenosis (MS).

A 9-year-old boy with congenital atresia of the left main coronary artery underwent myocardial revascularization. Coarctation of the aorta and ventricular septal defect were diagnosed at the age of 1 year. At age 7 years, the child presented with syncope while exercising.

A 13-year-old male was admitted to undergoing correction of a pulmonary venous baffle stenosis (PVBS) after a modified Senning procedure was performed by the age of five months. Recurrent Pulmonary congestion and pneumonia episodes were followed by echocardiography and cardiac catheterization that confirmed PVBS. Previous catheter balloon angioplasty was attempted, and a surgical revision was done under cardiopulmonary bypass.

Atrioventricular septal defects account for 4% of congenital cardiac malformations and over 50% of cardiac defects seen in Down syndrome. Clinical presentation is marked by congestive heart failure early in infancy. Cyanosis is rarely found in infants and suggests irreversible pulmonary hypertension or associated cardiac defects as tetralogy of Fallot, double outlet right ventricle, Ebstein anomaly, persistent left superior vena cava draining in the left atrium (Barbero Marcial, personal communication).

Background And Objectives: Cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is related to euthyroid disease or hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid system depression. Abnormal hemodynamic status induced by CPB is responsible for several endocrine-metabolic changes, triggering complex systemic inflammatory response. This study aimed at evaluating triiodothyronine (T3), tetraiodothyronine (T4) and thyrotrophin (TSH) behavior in infants submitted to cardiac surgery with CPB.
