Background: In Mexico, maternal mortality has fallen substantially in recent decades. Although according to the Secretaria de Salud, in Tamaulipas the maternal mortality rate has increased in recent years. Despite these facts, Tamaulipas ranks among the ten institutions with the lowest level of maternal mortality.

The spontaneous rupture of the uterine vessels during pregnancy is a potentially lethal complication that usually is not suspected as cause of acute abdomen in pregnancy. The clinical presentation is often sudden abdominal pain, accompanied by signs of hypovolemic shock and reduction in hemoglobin levels. The case of a 23-year-old woman at 22 weeks of gestation with acute abdomen is reported, without traumatic antecedents, and signs of hypovolemic shock.

The term fetus papyraceus is used to describe a mummified fetus associated to a multi-fetal gestation. We present the case of a of 20 years old patient who entered under the diagnosis of pregnancy of 41.1 weeks of gestation by last menstrual period, and effective labor work.
