ITS barcodes for Trichophyton tonsurans and T. equinum.

Early molecular biosystematic studies of dermatophytes created considerable confusion about the taxonomic status of the horse-associated Trichophyton equinum vis-à-vis the anthropophilic T. tonsurans. Though this matter has recently been clarified, routine identification of these species based on the commonly used ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequence has been impractical.

Phylogenetic analyses of Septoria species based on the ITS and LSU-D2 regions of nuclear ribosomal DNA.

The phylogenetic relationships of 17 selected Septoria spp. (eight with a known Mycosphaerella teleomorph), Phloeospora ulmi (teleomorph M. ulmi) and 18 additional taxa (10 with a Mycosphaerella teleomorph) were inferred from ITS and D2-LSU nrDNA sequences.

Umbelopsis dimorpha sp. nov., a link between U. vinacea and U. versiformis.

The new species Umbelopsis dimorpha sp. nov. was isolated from a soil sample in the Red Hills area of Mt Richmond Forest Park, in the northern part of the South Island of New Zealand.
