Objectives: The aim of the study was to evaluate the incidence, baseline disease characteristics, and disease location based on the Paris classification in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the Hungarian nationwide inception cohort. In addition, 1-year follow-up with therapy was analyzed.
Methods: From January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2009, newly diagnosed pediatric patients with IBD were prospectively registered.

The procedure was used in cases of clinically suspected celiac disease and for the control of the diet of patients with diagnosed celiac disease. The sensitivity of the patient material was 83% in the case of antibodies against IgA and 85% with antibodies against IgG.

The authors treated 17 food allergic, 2-14 year old children with chemoprophylactic drugs. The patients got either ketotifen or DSCG in random allocated for 4 weeks and thereafter a washout period of 2 weeks separated the trial period of the other drug. Oral challenge with the food was performed before the trial period and after a 4 week lasting elimination diet on the last day of each treatment.

Fungi other than Candida were cultivated from the throat in 15% of asthmatic children and 3% of controls. In secrets from the lower respiratory tract gained by bronchoscopy, laryngoscopy, or through tracheostomy there were moulds in 34% among the asthmatics and in 15% of the other cases.
