Early-stage sigmoid colon cancer resection followed by liver metastasis recurrence 1 year later and mesenteric recurrence more than 5 years later: a case report.

Background: Early-stage colorectal cancer (CRC) is often treated endoscopically, but additional surgical resection may be considered depending on pathological findings.

Case Presentation: A 73-year-old man was found to have early-stage sigmoid colon cancer by colonoscopy during a medical examination, and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) was performed. The lesion was a 7-mm-sized sessile polyp, and the pathological diagnosis was well-differentiated tubular adenocarcinoma, pT1 (submucosal invasion of 400 μm), with no lymphovascular invasion, low budding grade, and negative horizontal and vertical margins.

Background: A narrow pelvis makes laparoscopic rectal resection difficult. This study aimed to evaluate whether a simple measurement on computed tomography can predict procedural difficulty.

Background: Subclinical Cushing's disease (SCD) is defined by corticotroph adenoma-induced mild hypercortisolism without typical physical features of Cushing's disease. Infection is an important complication associated with mortality in Cushing's disease, while no reports on infection in SCD are available. To make clinicians aware of the risk of infection in SCD, we report a case of SCD with disseminated herpes zoster (DHZ) with the mortal outcome.

Aim: A new classification of combined hepatocellular cholangiocarcinoma (CHC) was recently reported. Cancer stem cells have been associated with CHC carcinogenesis. This study examined the association of cancer stem cell marker expression and prognosis in CHC classified using the new classification.

The effects of long-term herbal treatment for pediatric AIDS.

This paper presents our long-term (1992-2000) treatment of pediatric Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) patients (maximum 100 children, last three years 65) using native herbal remedies in a voluntary medical assistance program in Constanta, Romania. We primarily report the progress of 10 children at a facility called the "House of Tomorrow" and three other facilities. The long-term (8 years and 8 months) treatment contributed to a drop of the amount of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Ribonucleic Acids (HIV-RNA) below the measurable level for 9 out of 10 patients at the "House of Tomorrow.
