Aims: Serum creatinine (Cr)-derived estimated renal function indices are overestimated in elderly patients with reduced muscle mass (MM). A case of Weber-Christian disease with later development of rheumatoid arthritis.

Weber-Christian disease (WCD) is a syndrome characterized by recurrent subcutaneous nodules, fever, occasional lipoatrophy, fatigue, arthralgia, and myalgia. We report a case of WCD associated with rheumatoid arthritis. A 65-year-old woman consulted our outpatient clinic because of bilateral hand swelling.

Transforming growth factor beta and connective tissue growth factor are involved in the evolution of nevus of Nanta.

We report a 59-year-old Japanese male with nevus of Nanta on the face. Histological examination revealed a nest of nevus cells in the dermis and ossification beneath the nevus. Positive staining for transforming growth factor-beta and connective tissue growth factor suggested the involvement of these growth factors in the ossification of nevus of Nanta.
