The study aimed to investigate the reliability, construct, and discriminant validity of the Behavioral Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire 3 (BREQ-3) for evaluating motivational regulations and self-determination for exercise in Brazilian adults aged 50 years or older. The study assessed motivation for exercise, peripheral muscle strength, physical performance, functional capacity, cardiovascular fitness, and frailty phenotype. Two raters independently applied the BREQ-3.

Astroglia play crucial neuroprotective roles by internalizing pathogenic aggregates and facilitating their degradation. Here, we show that α-SYN protofibril-induced organelle toxicities and reactive oxygen species (ROS) cause premature cellular senescence in astrocytes and astrocyte-derived cancer cells, resulting in a transient increase in the biogenesis of tunneling nanotubes (TNTs). TNT-biogenesis and TNT-mediated cell-to-cell transfer lead to clearance of α-SYN-induced organelle toxicities, reduction in cellular ROS levels, and reversal of cellular senescence.

Low back pain self-management mobile applications: a systematic review on digital platforms.

Objective: To identify and analyze the features and quality of self-management support of mobile applications available in Brazil for chronic low back pain in adults.

Method: A systematic review on the Apple Store® and Google Play® digital platforms. The Self-Management Support Assessment Tool scale was used to assess self-management support and the Institute for Healthcare Informatics Functionality Score scale was used to assess functionality.

Working at the interface: lessons from a joined-up approach between oral medicine and paediatric dentistry.

Oral mucosal and other head and neck conditions in children have a variety of presentations. The joint oral medicine and paediatric (JOMP) dental clinic is a specialised unit within a London teaching hospital, developed to manage a wide range of oral conditions with an absolute commitment to a child-centred care approach. The authors present eight cases from the JOMP clinic experience at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation trust, over a nine-year period.

Background: The diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer can significantly affect a woman's health and well-being. Several studies have identified factors contributing to disparities in breast reconstruction among ethnic groups, but few have examined the experience of Hispanic women.

This article examines the United Kingdom Supreme Court decision in Whittington Hospital NHS Trust v XX [2020] UKSC 14. Function of FMRP Domains in Regulating Distinct Roles of Neuronal Protein Synthesis.

The Fragile-X Mental Retardation Protein (FMRP) is an RNA binding protein that regulates translation of mRNAs essential for synaptic development and plasticity. FMRP interacts with a specific set of mRNAs, aids in their microtubule-dependent transport and regulates their translation through its association with ribosomes. However, the biochemical role of FMRP's domains in forming neuronal granules and associating with microtubules and ribosomes is currently undefined.

Intellectual disability (ID) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are neurodevelopmental disorders that have become a primary clinical and social concern, with a prevalence of 2-3% in the population. Neuronal function and behaviour undergo significant malleability during the critical period of development that is found to be impaired in ID/ASD. Human genome sequencing studies have revealed many genetic variations associated with ASD/ID that are further verified by many approaches, including many mouse and other models.

A DNA barcode survey of insect biodiversity in Pakistan.

Although Pakistan has rich biodiversity, many groups are poorly known, particularly insects. To address this gap, we employed DNA barcoding to survey its insect diversity. Specimens obtained through diverse collecting methods at 1,858 sites across Pakistan from 2010-2019 were examined for sequence variation in the 658 bp barcode region of the cytochrome oxidase 1 (COI) gene.

Twenty-nine species are treated, most of which have host caterpillar and food plant records, and all but one are new to science. The first host record for the agathidine genus is given. Sharkey, is reported as a hyperparasitoid of fly larvae, the first such record for the genus.

The Mother Baby Comfort Care Pathway: The Development of a Rooming-In-Based Perinatal Palliative Care Program.

Background: Traditionally, the provision of comfort care and support during the dying process for infants born with life-limiting diagnoses has occurred in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). A major goal for the families of these infants is often the opportunity to spend as much time as possible with their infant in order to make memories and parent their infant.

Purpose: The objective of the Mother Baby Comfort Care Pathway is to implement a program of family-centered care with logistically flexible care delivery, allowing mothers and their families to share as normal a postpartum care experience as possible with a focus on quality of life, memory making, and time spent together.

Methods: Patients undergoing consultation for immediate, implant-based breast reconstruction were enrolled in a prospective, cohort survey study.

Perception of pain and influences on opioid use in implant-based breast reconstruction patients.

Although there has been a recent focus on decreasing opioid prescribing through alternative pain medication protocols, the patient's perception of pain related to breast reconstructive surgeries has not been well described. We sought to evaluate patient perception of pain control as it influences opioid use. We hypothesize that modifiable factors may influence patterns in pain perception and postoperative opioid use.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the USA. Statin therapy reduces cardiovascular events significantly. Cognitive impairment has been reported with statin therapy but there is a lack of consensus.

Background: Current rates of opioid prescribing and consumption in the United States have resulted in deleterious consequences for both patients and society. There has been a focus on opioid consumption and overprescribing, but the utility of patient education in reducing opioid consumption has only recently been explored. This randomized trial aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a brief patient educational intervention in reducing pain and opioid consumption in patients undergoing mastectomy and breast reconstruction.

Low-Attenuation Noncalcified Plaque on Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography Predicts Myocardial Infarction: Results From the Multicenter SCOT-HEART Trial (Scottish Computed Tomography of the HEART).

Background: The future risk of myocardial infarction is commonly assessed using cardiovascular risk scores, coronary artery calcium score, or coronary artery stenosis severity. We assessed whether noncalcified low-attenuation plaque burden on coronary CT angiography (CCTA) might be a better predictor of the future risk of myocardial infarction.

Methods: In a post hoc analysis of a multicenter randomized controlled trial of CCTA in patients with stable chest pain, we investigated the association between the future risk of fatal or nonfatal myocardial infarction and low-attenuation plaque burden (% plaque to vessel volume), cardiovascular risk score, coronary artery calcium score or obstructive coronary artery stenoses.

Optimum conditions of umbu juice spray drying were selected using inlet air temperature (), feed flow rate () and 10-DE maltodextrin concentration () as independent variables, and water activity, moisture content, hygroscopicity and phenolic compounds retention as responses. Powders water activity was determined with a water activity metre, moisture content and hygroscopicity gravimetrically, total phenolics spectrophotometrically, apparent and absolute density, porosity and solubility by standard methods, particle size by laser diffraction, and morphology by Scanning Electron Microscopy. Nectars sensory analysis was based on acceptance, purchase intention and multiple comparison preference tests.

Methods: This is an observational study based on two sources of data: 1) two cross-sectional household surveys, 2013 (2012 as reference year) and 2015 (2014 as reference year), representative for the entire population and four target groups (pregnant women; children under two years old; individuals with hypertension and diabetes); medical records of individuals who self-reported having hypertension or diabetes in the household survey of 2013. A descriptive statistics analysis was performed.

FMRP Interacts with C/D Box snoRNA in the Nucleus and Regulates Ribosomal RNA Methylation.

FMRP is an RNA-binding protein that is known to localize in the cytoplasm and in the nucleus. Here, we have identified an interaction of FMRP with a specific set of C/D box snoRNAs in the nucleus. C/D box snoRNAs guide 2'O methylations of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) on defined sites, and this modification regulates rRNA folding and assembly of ribosomes.
