Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated changes in awareness, attitudes, and knowledge about HPV vaccination among the local population in Singapore over six years, aiming to identify barriers and assess the effectiveness of national campaigns.
  • Two surveys were conducted in 2013 and 2019 among female clinic attendees, revealing improved knowledge about cervical cancer and HPV, but no significant change in actual HPV vaccine uptake.
  • The findings suggest that despite increased awareness, factors like lack of knowledge and cost remain barriers to vaccination, highlighting the need for better information dissemination and potential policy changes for effective vaccine implementation.

The causative agent of malaria, Plasmodium, possesses three translationally active compartments: the cytosol, the mitochondrion and a relic plastid called the apicoplast. Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases to charge tRNA are thus required for all three compartments. However, the Plasmodiumfalciparum genome encodes too few tRNA synthetases to supply a unique enzyme for each amino acid in all three compartments.
