Prosthetic nasal reconstruction provides a restorative option for patients with nasal defects, and these can be retained with a variety of methods including adhesives and implants. These prostheses can significantly improve appearance, self-esteem, and quality of life for patients and they restore many functions of the external nose. Traditional fabrication methods are often used by the skilled professionals who make these custom prostheses, but digital technology is improving the workflow for design and fabrication of silicone nasal prostheses.

Unique challenges are encountered when providing an obturator for an adolescent patient. Challenges include the need to modify the obturator throughout growth, engaging the mixed dentition or partially erupted teeth with minimal undercuts, the psychosocial challenges of an actively maturing patient, and the possible need for coincidental orthodontic therapy. This clinical report describes the ongoing rehabilitation of a patient who presented at the age of 10 with a biopsy-confirmed palatal mucoepidermoid carcinoma.

Statement Of Problem: Polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) is a high-performance polymer gaining popularity in dentistry for the fabrication of crowns, fixed partial dentures, removable partial denture frameworks, and frameworks for implant-supported fixed complete dentures. Despite a lack of performance data, lithium disilicate crowns have been bonded to retentive elements in PEKK frameworks.

Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the bond strengths and flexibility of lithium disilicate to PEKK or zirconia.
