The management of meningioma in elderly patients (MEP) presents a complex and evolving challenge. Data available offer conflicting information on treatment options and complications. This survey aimed to examine the current approach to MEP, comparing the national profile to data in the current literature.

Language mapping with stereo-electroencephalography (EEG) is usually performed by high-frequency stimulations (HFS: 50 Hz), whereas low-frequency stimulations (LFS: 1 Hz) are usually considered useful for primary cortices mapping. Little is known in literature about "intermediate" frequencies (IFS: 6-15 Hz).

Purpose: Several surgical options are available for treating hypothalamic hamartoma-related epilepsy but their respective efficacy and safety profiles are poorly defined.
Methods: A literature search identified English-language articles reporting series of patients (minimum 3 patients with a follow-up ≥12 months) operated on by either microsurgery, endoscopic surgery, radiosurgery, radiofrequency thermocoagulation or laser interstitial thermal therapy for hypothalamic hamartoma-related epilepsy. The unit of analysis was each selected study.
Background: the different lockdown phases due to COVID-19 may have negatively impacted pregnant women's mental health. Concerning antenatal stress, most studies focused more on the effect of pandemic onset than on the impact of the following phases and restrictions.
Aim: the present study aimed to assess levels of anxiety and depression in a group of Italian pregnant women during the second COVID-19 phase and possible risk factors.
Introduction: Wheat is the most important cereal for human nutrition but its high consumption is associated to an increasing complaint of wheat-related disorders, many of which are allergic in nature and different in respect to the involved allergens. In this study, we compared the clinical aspects of wheat allergy presented by patients sensitized to Tri a 19 in respect to those presented by patients sensitized to Tri a 14.
Methods: With this aim, we selected patients sensitized to 1 or both of the 2 allergens, and among these we identified those who were really wheat allergic and reactive on the basis of a standardized methodology.
Objective: Slit ventricle syndrome (SVS) is an iatrogenic disease occurring in patients with ventriculoperitoneal shunt. This article reports the management modalities and results in a case series from a single center.
Methods: We reviewed a series 48 hospitalized patients with severe SVS whom we managed in a 10-year period.
Objective: Lateral periinsular hemispherotomy (LPH) and vertical parasagittal hemispherotomy (VPH) are the most popular disconnective techniques for intractable epilepsies associated with unilateral hemispheric pathologies. The authors aimed to investigate possible differences in seizure outcome and complication rates between patients who underwent LPH and VPH.
Methods: A comprehensive literature search of PubMed and Embase identified English-language articles published from database inception to December 2019 that reported series (minimum 12 patients with follow-up ≥ 12 months) on either LPH or VPH.
DRESS/DiHS is a complex and potentially fatal drug reaction. Little is known about risk factors and elements that can help to identify patients with a severe reaction early. The aim of the study was to investigate those factors favoring the disease and its severity by analyzing the clinical conditions and therapies preceding the reaction.

Target-therapy with Imatinib has greatly improved its outcome. Deeper and faster responses are reported with the second-generation TKI Nilotinib.

Introduction: Allergy to Hymenoptera venom (HV) may lead to life-threatening anaphylaxis. Some of the factors influencing the symptom's severity are still undetermined. The aim of this study was to identify the clinical aspects associated with the most severe reactions in a population with HV allergy, by comparing clinical and immunochemical biomarkers between patients with previous local large reactions (LLRs) and systemic reactions (SRs).

Objectives: To analyze COVID-19 death rates in European countries or regions to determine whether there was a significant association between bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccination policy and lower rates of COVID-19 related deaths.
Methods: Certain Northern European countries or regions had low death rates regardless of BCG policy.
Background: Hippocampal sclerosis (HS) may be associated with focal cortical dysplasia IIIa (FCD IIIa) in patients undergoing surgery for temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE).
Objective: To investigate whether the anatomo-electro-clinical profile and surgical outcome in patients with HS-related TLE are affected by coexisting FCD IIIa.
Methods: A total of 220 patients, operated in 5 centers, with at least 24 mo follow-up (FU), were retrospectively studied.

Our work concerns the actual problem of spread of SARS- CoV-2 outbreak which requires fast and correct as possible answer. In current scenario, the need of rapid answer put away the imperative of proper methodology. We focus on the serogical immunoassay for diagnosis of Covid-19 as an important weapon not only for diagnostic purpose, but also for epidemiologic one.

Circulating methylated DNA (cmDNA) assessed by a five-gene panel was previously associated with outcome in chemotherapy treated mCRC patients. We hypothesized that cmDNA could be used to identify cases most likely to benefit from regorafenib (i.

Background: Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) is a systemic vasculitis associated with asthma, anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) positivity, and tissue eosinophilia.
Objective: To describe the presenting clinical features, significant biochemical alterations, and also potential pathogenic factors in adult patients diagnosed in our Center over a period of >20 years.
Method: A retrospective study of EGPA patients diagnosed from 1994 to 2019 at ASST Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda Ca' Granda, Milan (Italy), which was performed according to the 1990 American College of Rheumatology criteria and Chapel Hill Consensus Conference definition.
Purpose: To retrospectively analyse a single-centre consecutive surgical series of patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and negative MRI. To identify factors associated with postoperative seizure outcome among several presurgical, surgical and postsurgical variables.
Methods: Clinical records of 866 patients who received temporal lobe resections and with a minimum follow-up of 12 months were retrospectively searched for MRI-negative cases.
Background: Endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) is now widely used to manage ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) malfunctions, but outcome predictors are still debated. Different opinions exist about the prognostic factors, but shunt duration is generally considered unimportant although its influence remains poorly investigated.
Methods: A total of 139 patients undergoing ETV for VPS malfunction were reviewed.
Background And Objectives: Mutations of the TP53 gene have an unfavorable prognosis in Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS). The product of the gene is the p53 protein. Most of the mutations entail the accumulation of the protein in the nucleus of tumor cells.

Background: Drug provocation test (DPT) represents the gold standard for the diagnosis of drug allergy. A DPT can be performed in a single-blind placebo-controlled manner. In anxiety and depressive disorders, patients need to be evaluated to understand the nature of placebo reactions.

However, the use of IFN-γ has been limited by its dose-dependent side effects. Low-dose medicine, which is emerging as a novel strategy to treat diseases, might circumvent this restriction.

Nasal pillows (P) can be an alternative to the standard nasal masks (N), although there are no data about their long-term efficacy. This study aimed to assess long-term effectiveness and adherence to CPAP therapy delivered with nasal pillows in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) patients.
