Objectives: To examine the relationship between adherence to dietary guidelines and the risk of developing RA.
Methods: Participants in the Malmö Diet and Cancer Study (MDCS) cohort diagnosed with RA were identified through register linkage and validated in a structured review. Four controls per case were selected, matched for sex, year of birth, and year of inclusion in the MDCS.

Objectives: Diet has received attention as a factor possibly contributing to the development of Rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Several dietary exposures have been examined in various populations using different diet assessment methods. The aim of this study was to systematically assess the literature on the relation between dietary patterns, different food and food groups, macronutrients, non-alcoholic beverages and the risk of developing RA.

In general, there is an increased activity of the complement system during pregnancy, which is essential for maintaining the host's defense and fetal survival. Unbalanced or excessive activation of the complement system in the placenta is associated with pregnancy complications, such as miscarriage, preeclampsia, and premature birth.

Methods: Two inception cohorts of consecutive patients with early RA (ie, symptom duration ≤ 12 months) in the southern region of Sweden were investigated. Patients were stratified by anticitrullinated peptide antibody (ACPA) status.
Objective: The progress of accelerated atherosclerosis in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is incompletely understood. Circulating osteopontin (OPN) is increased in autoimmune conditions, e.g.

Objective: To use a population-based approach to determine if there is an association between pre-occurring rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and later-life risk of PD.
While the management of pregnant patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) has improved over the last decades, the risk of maternal, foetal, and neonatal complications is still substantial. We evaluated the occurrence of adverse pregnancy outcomes (APO) occurring in 2002-2018 among patients with SLE from the catchment area of the Department of Rheumatology in Lund, Sweden. Longitudinal clinical and laboratory data were collected and analysed.

Quality registers have been useful for observational studies on tumor necrosis factor inhibition in clinical practice. The aim of this study was to investigate clinical efficacy and tolerability of abatacept in RA, using a national register.

The phagocytosis of necrotic cell material (PNC) assay parallels the well-known lupus erythematosus cell test. In this study, we aimed to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of the assay and the relationship with clinical manifestations and disease activity in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Objective: To identify clinical phenotypes associated with anti-dsDNA antibodies, independently of any clinical diagnoses.
Methods: Patients with recent onset of any rheumatic symptoms were screened for antinuclear antibodies (ANA).
