A program for the hematologic patient at very high risk of infections (HAR, from its initials in Spanish) was implemented, based on a multidisciplinary team and six measures intended to reduce the colonization and subsequent sepsis by multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO). We aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the HAR program in terms of MDRO infections mainly caused by carbapenemase-producing and multidrug-resistant , and sepsis-related mortality. We established retrospective comparisons between the pre-HAR period (2016-2018) and the post-HAR period (2018-2019), in patients who received a hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) and/or intensive chemotherapy to treat non-M3 acute myeloid leukemia (CH-AML).

Safety at 72 h post-immunization was analyzed based on a self-reported form. Between January 5 and January 20, 2021, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a total of 707 healthcare workers (median age 35 yrs, female 67%) were vaccinated.

Methods: Longitudinal, quasi-experimental interrupted time-series study in a tertiary teaching hospital in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Successive measurements were made before and after the intervention was implemented between January 2016 and December 2018.

Introduction: We proposed to analyze the scientific production of our institution, through the publications indexed in the PUBMED and analyze: a) Total number of publications and progression over time; b) Type of publications; c) Unit participation; d) Relation between % publications / % medical unit staff; e) Impact factor.
Methods: A retrospective research was performed in PUBMED database between 1/1/2013 and 12/31/2018 and all the papers that respond to the affiliation name of "Hospital Italiano" (spanish) o "Italian Hospital" (english) were reviewed. The following information was collected from each publication: authors, journal, impact factor, unit involved and language of publication.
Background: Convalescent plasma is frequently administered to patients with Covid-19 and has been reported, largely on the basis of observational data, to improve clinical outcomes. Minimal data are available from adequately powered randomized, controlled trials.
Methods: We randomly assigned hospitalized adult patients with severe Covid-19 pneumonia in a 2:1 ratio to receive convalescent plasma or placebo.
We compared the use of evidence-based secondary prevention drugs for coronary artery disease at hospital discharge and 3 years of follow-up in a group of patients associated to an integrated network of health services. We conducted a retrospective group study that included 125 patients under 80 years of age who were hospitalized for acute coronary syndrome. McNemar's test was used to compare values at baseline and 3 years.

However, creatinine reabsorption has been documented in certain conditions, such as premature babies, newborns, and healthy elderly people. Additionally, it is known that there is an increase in the proportion of secreted creatinine in chronic renal disease.

Preanesthetic evaluation purpose is to reduce morbidity and mortality through the review of the patient's medical history, clinical examination, and targeted clinical studies, providing referrals for medical consultations when appropriated. Changes in patient care, standards of health information management and patterns of perioperative care, have resulted in a re-conceptualization of this process where the documentation of patient medical information, the efforts in training and maintaining the integrity of the medical-legal evaluation are areas of concern. The aim of this paper is to describe the design, development, training, and implementation of a computerized preanesthetic evaluation form associated to the evaluation of the user satisfaction with the system.

Additionally, very old patients usually do not agree with starting chronic dialysis. Even though, activated charcoal is a cheap treatment for working as adsorbent for nitrogenous products its utility is very limited.

However, there are particular physiological situations in which tubular creatinine reabsorption has been documented, such as in the case of healthy newborns and premature babies. We performed a prospective study in order to evaluate if there is tubular creatinine reabsorption in healthy elderly people.

Eight adult patients (four males and four females) with TMA who were treated between 2003 and 2004 at the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires were reviewed. The average age was 40.

We randomly selected 149 patients, aged 65 years or older, from admission to general wards, without evidence of delirium. They were evaluated daily with the Confusion Assessment Method, an instrument validated for the diagnosis of delirium.

The objective was 1) to determine the usefulness of different criteria in the differential diagnosis between exudate and transudate in pleural effusion, 2) to evaluate albumin gradient changes in pleural effusion fluids characterized as transudates in patients who do and do not receive diuretic therapy, 3) to define the specificity of pleural effusions of neoplastic etiology. All patients with pleural effusion admitted to the hospital between January 15 and August 15 1994 were evaluated consecutively. Serum and pleural effusion, total protein, LDH, albumin and cholesterol levels were measured and the etiologic diagnosis of the pleural effusion (gold standard) was established.
