Article Synopsis
  • - The WHO-FIC includes three main classifications: ICD (diseases), ICF (functioning and disability), and ICHI (health interventions), which have now been unified under the WHO-FIC Foundation for better organization and consistency.
  • - The classifications share several concepts, particularly in human anatomy, but they differ in how these concepts are modeled, needing careful reconciliation to avoid duplicates in the repository.
  • - A study was conducted where experts mapped 218 ICF Body Structures to corresponding ICD-11 Anatomic Details, resulting in 434 identified relationships, revealing that ICF generally offers less detail than ICD-11 and tends to group structures more broadly.

Purpose: Pes planus (or flatfoot) is the most common deformity in children with cerebral palsy. There are several surgical interventions used to treat it: single calcaneal osteotomies, extra-articular arthrodesis, double calcaneal osteotomy, calcaneo-cuboid-cuneiform osteotomy, intra-articular arthrodesis, and arthroereisis. There is currently no evidence on optimal treatment for flatfoot in children with cerebral palsy.

The COVID-19 pandemic provides the opportunity to re-think health policies and health systems approaches by the adoption of a biopsychosocial perspective, thus acting on environmental factors so as to increase facilitators and diminish barriers. Specifically, vulnerable people should not face discrimination because of their vulnerability in the allocation of care or life-sustaining treatments. Adoption of biopsychosocial model helps to identify key elements where to act to diminish effects of the pandemics.
