  • The study compares laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) and open myomectomy (OM) by analyzing postoperative complications, blood loss, operative time, and length of hospital stay using the Clavien-Dindo classification.
  • LM showed significantly lower rates of overall postoperative complications and mean blood loss compared to OM, with an associated statistically significant shorter hospital stay.
  • Additionally, while operative times were similar, the findings indicate a clear advantage for LM in terms of patient recovery and safety.

Ovarian cancer (OC) remains a significant health challenge globally, with high mortality rates despite advancements in treatment. Emerging research suggests a potential link between OC development and genital dysbiosis, implicating alterations in the microbiome composition as a contributing factor. To investigate this correlation, a meta-analysis was conducted following PRISMA and MOOSE guidelines, involving eight studies encompassing 3504 patients.

The establishment of PARP inhibitors in the treatment of epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC) has prompt BRCA assessment at the time of diagnosis. We described our five years of experience of tumor BRCA testing, as part of a multidisciplinary workflow for the management of EOC patients. We used a BRCA next-generation sequencing (NGS) test for profiling formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) EOCs of 762 consecutive patients, with a success rate of 99.

  • Hemoperitoneum, or bleeding in the abdominal cavity, can result from trauma, tumors, gastrointestinal perforations, or less commonly, coagulopathies, with the superior epigastric artery (SEA) being a rare source of injury.
  • A case study discusses a 44-year-old woman who experienced hemoperitoneum following cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer, where active bleeding from the SEA was identified via CT scan.
  • The patient underwent coil embolization and surgical drainage to address the bleeding; despite initial success, additional embolization was needed, ultimately leading to complete resolution as confirmed by ultrasound.

Literature on obstetric outcomes following molar pregnancy is poor, often including monocentric studies, and with data collected from national databases.
