Purpose: To present the rationale, guidelines, and results of ranibizumab treatment for proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) in Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network (DRCR.net) Protocol S.
Design: Post hoc analyses from a randomized clinical trial.
Background: The approach to managing diabetic macular edema in eyes with previous vitrectomy is based on limited evidence. Therefore, an exploratory post hoc assessment of 3-year data from eyes with and without vitrectomy before randomization in a DRCR.net trial that evaluated ranibizumab + prompt or deferred laser for diabetic macular edema is presented.

Methods: Collaborative multicenter case series (48 cases), literature reviews (32 cases), and reports to the FDA (64 cases) of patients that had vascular occlusions during anti-VEGF therapy were collected and analyzed.
Results: A total of 144 cases of ocular vascular events were identified, with these diagnosed a median of 15 days after anti-VEGF injection.

Objective: To provide data on the short-term effect of intravitreal bevacizumab for diabetic macular edema (DME).
Design: Randomized phase II clinical trial.
Participants: One hundred twenty-one eyes of 121 subjects (109 eligible for analysis) with DME and Snellen acuity equivalent ranging from 20/32 to 20/320.
Objective: To evaluate diurnal variation in retinal thickness measured with optical coherence tomography (OCT) in patients with center-involved diabetic macular edema.
Methods: Serial OCT3 measurements were performed in 156 eyes of 96 subjects with clinically diagnosed diabetic macular edema and OCT central subfield retinal thickness of 225 microm or greater at 8 am. Central subfield thickness was measured from OCT3 retinal thickness maps at 6 points over a single day between 8 am and 4 pm.
We report an observational case of Bartonella quintana-associated neuroretinitis. The patient had a positive IgM IFA titer for Bartonella quintana early in the disease. After treatment, the neuroretinitis and IgM resolved.

Fundoscopic examination showed retinal venous tortuosity, several flame-shaped hemorrhages bilaterally, and a subhyaloid hemorrhage in the right fovea. Laboratory evaluation and subsequent bone marrow biopsy were consistent with the diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
