Background: Many species are exhibiting range shifts associated with anthropogenic change. For migratory species, colonisation of new areas can require novel migratory programmes that facilitate navigation between independently-shifting seasonal ranges. Therefore, in some cases range-shifts may be limited by the capacity for novel migratory programmes to be transferred between generations, which can be genetically and socially mediated.

Lewis acid-base adducts between potassium dihydrogenpnictogenides [K(18c6)PnH] (Pn=P, As) and Trialkylgallanes (GaMe, GaEt, GatBu) as well as BH were synthesized. In the course of these investigations, we were able to fully characterize a row of compounds of the type [K(18c6)(thf)][PnH(ER)] (E=B: R=H; E=Ga: R=Me, Et, tBu). Based on the successful syntheses of these species, we also synthesized several compounds of the composition [K(18c6)(thf)][Pn(SiMe)(ER)] (n=1, 2) starting from [KPn(SiMe)] (Pn=P and As) and ER (E=B, Al, In: R=Me; E=Ga: R=Me, Et, tBu).

Increasing evidence suggests that, as in other medical fields, there are pronounced pediatric mental health disparities with greater burden among marginalized racial and ethnic youth. The reasons for these disparities are not fully understood. One way to explain pediatric mental health disparities is through the lens of environmental stress as a driver of mental health burden, given that marginalized populations are exposed to more structural and individual stress.

Study Objective: Following discharge from a pediatric emergency department (ED) or urgent care, many families do not pick up their prescribed medications. A nickel-catalyzed reductive cross-coupling of redox active -hydroxyphthalimide (NHP) esters and iodoarenes for the synthesis of α-aryl nitriles is described. The NHP ester substrate is derived from cyanoacetic acid, which allows for a modular synthesis of substituted α-aryl nitriles, an important scaffold in the pharmaceutical sciences. The reaction exhibits a broad scope, and many functional groups are compatible under the reaction conditions, including complex highly functionalized medicinal agents.

The recent precise experimental determination of the monopole transition form factor from the ground state of ^{4}He to its 0_{2}^{+} resonance via electron scattering has reinvigorated discussions about the nature of this first excited state of the α particle. The 0_{2}^{+} state has been traditionally interpreted in the literature as the isoscalar monopole resonance (breathing mode) or, alternatively, as a particle-hole shell-model excitation. To better understand the nature of this state, which lies only ∼410  keV above the proton emission threshold, we employ the coupled-channel representation of the no-core Gamow shell model.

The boundaries of the chart of nuclides contain exotic isotopes that possess extreme proton-to-neutron asymmetries. Here we report on strong evidence of ^{9}N, one of the most exotic proton-rich isotopes where more than one half of its constitute nucleons are unbound. With seven protons and two neutrons, this extremely proton-rich system would represent the first-known example of a ground-state five-proton emitter.

This study aimed to create a conversion equation that accurately predicts cartilage magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) T2 relaxation times using ultrasound echo-intensity and common participant demographics. We recruited 15 participants with a primary anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction between the ages of 18 and 35 years at 1-5 years after surgery. The terbium (Tb) family has attracted much attention in recent years thanks to the diagnostic and therapeutic applications of the quadruplet Tb, Tb, Tb and Tb. However, the scarce availability of Tb radioisotopes is one of the main reasons hindering its clinical applications. Introduction: Spinal fractures with a split component present specific bone union problems (pseudarthrosis). The purpose of this study was to assess the rate of pseudarthrosis after stand-alone percutaneous kyphoplasties and analyze clinical and radiographic parameters that are predictive of its efficacy in thoracolumbar spine fractures with a split-type of injury.

Hypothesis: Stand-alone kyphoplasty results in satisfactory bone union of the treated vertebral body despite the diastasis of fracture fragments.

As climate change alters the global environment, it is critical to understand the relationship between shifting climate suitability and species distributions. Key questions include whether observed changes in population abundance are aligned with the velocity and direction of shifts predicted by climate suitability models and if the responses are consistent among species with similar ecological traits. Objective: Impaired cardiac efficiency is a hallmark of diabetic cardiomyopathy in models of type 2 diabetes. Adiponectin receptor 1 (AdipoR1) deficiency impairs cardiac efficiency in non-diabetic mice, suggesting that hypoadiponectinemia in type 2 diabetes may contribute to impaired cardiac efficiency due to compromised AdipoR1 signaling. Thus, we investigated whether targeting cardiac adiponectin receptors may improve cardiac function and energetics, and attenuate diabetic cardiomyopathy in type 2 diabetic mice.
