Purpose: The clinical significance of collateral flow for the ventricular function of patients with univentricular hearts is often debated. This study evaluates the impact of collateral flow on respiration-dependent preload modification and diastolic function in Fontan patients assessed by systemic and pulmonary vein (PV) flow patterns.

Materials And Methods: Real-time phase-contrast cardiovascular magnetic resonance was performed in the right upper PV, ascending aorta, superior, and inferior vena cava (IVC) in 21 Fontan patients and 11 healthy individuals.

Trends in aortic valve replacement for aortic stenosis: a French nationwide study.

Aims: Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) as an alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) has profoundly changed the management of patients with aortic valve stenosis (AS). Large unbiased nationwide data regarding TAVR implementation, impact on SAVR and their respective outcomes are scarce.

Methods And Results: Based on a French administrative hospital-discharge database, we collected data on all consecutive aortic valve replacements (AVRs) performed in France for AS between 2007 and 2019 [106 253 isolated SAVR (49%), 46 514 combined SAVR (21%), and 65 651 TAVR (30%)].

Concurrent and longitudinal associations among insomnia symptoms, internalizing problems, and chronic pain in youth.

Objective: Although insomnia symptoms and chronic pain are associated, less is known about the temporal nature of the associations between these variables or the impact of internalizing symptoms on the associations. Concurrent and longitudinal associations were examined among insomnia symptoms, internalizing symptoms, and pain in youth with chronic pain in this retrospective analysis of clinical records. We hypothesized the following: (a) pain, insomnia symptoms, and internalizing symptoms would be significantly interrelated at all waves, (b) insomnia symptoms would more strongly predict future pain than the reverse, and (c) internalizing symptoms would mediate the longitudinal association between insomnia symptoms and pain.

To study (un)conscious perception and test hypotheses about consciousness, researchers need procedures for determining whether subjects consciously perceive stimuli or not. This article is an introduction to a family of procedures called "confidence-based procedures," which consist in interpreting metacognitive indicators as indicators of consciousness. I assess the validity and accuracy of these procedures, and answer a series of common objections to their use in consciousness research.

Survival of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia has significantly improved over the past decades. In the early years of chemotherapeutic development, improvement in survival rates could be attained only by increasing the cytostatic dose, also by modulation of the frequency and combination of chemotherapeutic agents associated with severe short- and long-time side-effects and toxicity in a developing child's organism. Years later, new treatment options have yielded promising results through targeted immune and molecular drugs, especially in relapsed and refractory leukemia, and are continuously added to conventional therapy or even replace first-line treatment.

Treatment for immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) in pregnancy is hampered by the lack of fetal safety evidence of maternally-administered medications. The Pregnancy Surveillance Program (PSP) collected patient information from 2017-2020 for pregnancy, birth outcomes, and adverse events (AEs) for 186 women exposed to romiplostim from 20 days before pregnancy to the end of pregnancy. Timing of exposure was available in 128 women.
