We review the latest evidence from animal models, studies in humans using electrophysiology, experimental memory paradigms, and non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS), in the form of transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), suggesting that the altered activity in networks that contribute to the autobiographical memory (ABM) deficits may be modifiable. ABM involves a specific brain network of interacting regions that store and retrieve life experiences. Deficits in ABM are early symptoms in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD), and serve as relevant predictors of disease progression.

The primary purpose of these investigations is to integrate our growing knowledge about the endothelial glycocalyx as a permeability and osmotic barrier into models of trans-vascular fluid exchange in whole organs. We describe changes in the colloid osmotic pressure (COP) difference for plasma proteins across the glycocalyx after an increase or decrease in capillary pressure. The composition of the fluid under the glycocalyx changes in step with capillary pressure whereas the composition of the interstitial fluid takes many hours to adjust to a change in vascular pressure.

Metal(loid) soil pollution resulting from mining activities is an important issue that has negative effects on the environment (soil acidification, lack of vegetation, groundwater pollution) and human health (cancer, chronic diseases). In the context of a phytostabilization process for the bioremediation of a mine soil highly contaminated by arsenic (As) and lead (Pb), a pot experiment was set up to study the effect of plant sowing and microbial inoculation on soil properties, metal(loid) (im)mobilization in soil and accumulation in plant, and plant growth. Calcium- and protein-rich fermented milk products, such as concentrated yoghurts and fresh cheeses, may contain undesired bitter peptides, which are generated by the proteolytic cleavage of casein. Up to now, it is not clear whether this process is caused by endogenous milk enzymes, such as plasmin and cathepsin D, or whether proteolytic enzymes from applied starter cultures, such as the lactococcal cell-envelope peptidase PrtP, are involved. A sensory analysis of fresh cheese products made from milk concentrates fermented with -negative and -positive strains revealed bitterness in the products fermented with -positive strains.

We search for gravitational-wave signals produced by cosmic strings in the Advanced LIGO and Virgo full O3 dataset. Search results are presented for gravitational waves produced by cosmic string loop features such as cusps, kinks, and, for the first time, kink-kink collisions. Understanding the link between mother's obesity and regulation of the child's appetite is a prerequisite for the design of successful preventive strategies. Beyond the possible contributions of genetic heritage, family culture, and hormonal and metabolic environment during pregnancy, we investigate in the present paper the causal role of the transmission of the maternal microbiotas in obesity as microbiotas differ between lean and obese mothers, maternal microbiotas are the main determinants of a baby's gut colonization, and the intestinal microbiota resulting from the early colonization could impact the feeding behavior of the offspring with short- and long-term consequences on body weight. We thus investigated the potential role of vertical transfers of maternal microbiotas in programming the eating behavior of the offspring.

Visual motion discrimination involves reciprocal interactions in the alpha band between the primary visual cortex (V1) and mediotemporal areas (V5/MT).
