Low-grade central osteosarcoma of distal femur, resembling fibrous dysplasia.

We report a case of a 32 year-old male, admitted for a lytic lesion of the distal femur. One month after the first X-ray, clinical and imaging deterioration was evident. Open biopsy revealed fibrous dysplasia.

Immunohistological characterization of thymic dendritic cells.

Background: Dendritic cells play key roles in thymic histophysiology and histopathology. Therefore, we analyzed the immunotopographical distribution of cells expressing markers of dendritic cells and macrophages in postnatal human thymus.

Materials And Methods: The streptavidin-biotin peroxidise-labeled (LSAB) and the double-LSAB/alkaline phosphatase/anti-alkaline phosphatase (APAAP) immunohistochemical procedures were used.

Immunohistological analysis of cell cycle and apoptosis regulators in thymus.

The combined expression patterns of cell cycle and apoptosis regulators have not been analyzed in details in human thymus to the best of our knowledge. Our objective was to provide multiparametric and combined immunohistological information regarding the expression levels and the topographical distribution of major cell cycle and apoptosis regulators in postnatal human thymus. Ki67 and cyclins A, B1, D3 and E were frequently expressed by thymocytes with higher expression in cortical than medullary thymocytes.

Can the use of hyaluronidase reduce capsule formation?

Background: The purpose of this study was to find whether the use of hyaluronidase reduces capsule formation.

Methods: Ten New Zealand White rabbits were used. Eight pockets were created using an aseptic technique, four on the right side and four on the left side, along the vertebral column of every animal.

Steatosis and steatohepatitis in postmortem material from Northwestern Greece.

Aim: To determine the prevalence of steatosis and steatohepatitis in a series of autopsies in Northwestern Greece.

Methods: Liver biopsy material from a total of 600 autopsies performed over a period of 2 years (2006-2008) to define the cause of death was subjected to histological examination. Patient demographic data were also collected.

Low grade fibromyxoid sarcoma: a case report and review of the literature.

Low grade fibromyxoid sarcoma (LGFMS) is a distinctive variant of fibrosarcoma with a high metastasizing potential and sometimes long interval between tumour presentation and metastasis. We present the case of a 50-year-old male who developed a large mass in the posterior aspect of his lower left thigh. The tumor was excised with preservation of the neurovascular structures surrounded by the mass.

Synchronous primary tumors of the kidney and the ovaries: Imaging findings.

The simultaneous presence of primary carcinomas in the same patient is uncommon and synchronous primary tumors involving the kidney and ovary are extremely rare. There are a few reports in the English literature of synchronous primary malignancies of the kidney and the ovaries, but no data regarding their imaging features. We present a case of an elderly woman, diagnosed with bilateral ovarian clear cell carcinomas and a simultaneous clear cell carcinoma of the right kidney, evaluated by multidetector CT and MR imaging.
