Nosocomial infections remain an important issue for patient safety concerns. Since hospital infections are mainly connected with healthcare professionals' routines, an increase in hand hygiene effectiveness through compliance with the "bare below the elbow" (BBE) concept could reduce the number of nosocomial infections.
