Distributed fiber-optic sensing continues to gain widespread adoption in the energy industry because of the numerous benefits it offers for real-time surface and subsurface monitoring of pipelines, wellbores, reservoirs, and storage infrastructure. In this study, we introduce a novel workflow to analyze optical fiber-based distributed acoustic sensor (DAS) data, which takes into account the speed of sound for a certain phase to filter the acoustic energy or signal contributed by that phase. This information is then utilized for the characterization of multiphase flow.

Objective: The goal of the study is to quantify the reduction in the cases of influenza and how this decrease in incidence correlates with the execution of masking requirements in public as well as social distancing.
Methods: Influenza statistics were collected from Northwell Health, a 23-hospital system located throughout New York State. Positive influenza results were collected representing the 2018-2019 Flu season, 2019-2020 Flu season, and compared to the 2020-2021 Flu season, which corresponded to the mask mandates and social distancing measures implemented in NYS.

Hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSDs) encompass an array of connective tissue disorders characterized by joint instability and chronic pain. Fatigue and other systemic symptoms that affect daily functioning may occur, as well. Accurate data on incidence and prevalence of HSDs is hampered by lack of awareness of these conditions and the wide heterogeneity of their clinical presentation.

Among patients with proximal iliofemoral deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and an elevated Villalta score, anticoagulation therapy alone may not be a sufficient management strategy in select cases. In this article, we report a case of severe bilateral iliofemoral DVT that resisted the standard treatment for DVT, requiring catheter-directed thrombolysis and subsequent mechanical thrombectomy.

Objective: This study sought to determine if an initial assessment for an acute inpatient population was able to predict treatment response as measured by progress through clinical pathways. In addition, we sought to analyze the impact of comorbidity on treatment response.
Method: A total of 170 adults (18-75 years) admitted for an acute inpatient hospitalization, received a full assessment including the Brief Symptom Inventory.

This study examined changes in the length of stay, cost savings, recidivism and community access when individuals with serious mental illness who were mandated into extended treatment were moved from a regional center institution to community treatment. Results showed significantly shorter length of stay, cost savings and no increase in recidivism when individuals were treated in the community program.

A sample of 196 Japanese high school students completed the scale.
