Purpose: Radiation treatment planning for meningiomas traditionally involves magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast enhanced images to define residual tumor. However, the gross tumor volume may be difficult to delineate for patients with a meningioma in the skull base sagittal sinus or after resection. Advanced positron emission tomography (PET) imaging using Ga-DOTATATE, which has been shown to be more sensitive and specific than MRI imaging, can be used for target volume delineation in these circumstances.

Gliomas represent a wide spectrum of brain tumors characterized by their high invasiveness, resistance to chemoradiotherapy, and both intratumoral and intertumoral heterogeneity. Recent advances in transomics studies revealed that enormous abnormalities exist in different biological layers of glioma cells, which include genetic/epigenetic alterations, RNA expressions, protein expression/modifications, and metabolic pathways, which provide opportunities for development of novel targeted therapeutic agents for gliomas. Metabolic reprogramming is one of the hallmarks of cancer cells, as well as one of the oldest fields in cancer biology research.

Background: The Gleason scoring system is the most widely used method to assess prostate adenocarcinoma pathology however interobserver variability is significant. Gleason score, PSA level, and clinical stage comprise the NCCN risk stratification that guides treatment decision making. Given the importance of an accurate Gleason score and wide interobserver variability, referral centers routinely review outside pathology at the time of consultation.

Cardiac radioablation with SBRT is a very promising non-invasive modality for the treatment of refractory VT and potentially other cardiac arrhythmias. Initial reports indicate that it is relatively safe and associated with excellent responses, particularly in reduction of ICD-related events, need for anti-arrhythmic medications, and resulting in significantly improved quality of life for patients. Establishment of objective criteria for candidates for cardiac radioablation will accelerate the adoption of this important radiation therapy modality in the treatment of refractory VT and other cardiac arrhythmias in the coming years.

Purpose: Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio has been correlated with clinical outcomes in many cancers. We investigated whether the delta-NLR (ΔNLR) following radiation therapy (RT) could predict achieving surgical resection and the overall survival (OS) of patients with borderline resectable (BRPC) and locally advanced pancreatic cancer (LAPC), and whether the splenic radiation dose impacted ΔNLR.

Advances in computer software technology have led to enormous progress that has enabled increasing levels of complexity to be incorporated into radiotherapy treatment planning systems. Because of these changes, the delivery of radiotherapy evolved from therapy designed primarily on plain 2-dimensional X-ray images and hand calculations to therapy based on 3-dimensional images incorporating increasingly complex computer algorithms in the planning process. In addition, challenges in treatment planning and radiation delivery, such as problems with setup error and organ movement, have begun to be systematically addressed, ushering in an era of so-called 4-dimensional radiotherapy.
