Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the various modern music genres and their effect on the utilization of medical resources with analysis and adjustment for potential confounders.

Methods: A retrospective review of patient logs from an open-air, contemporary amphitheater over a period of 10 years was performed. Variables recorded by the medical personnel for each concert included the attendance, description of the weather, and a patient log in which nature and outcome were recorded.

In this case report, a 22-year-old male developed severe hypothermia after an accidental overdose of cyclobenzaprine. During transport, the patient developed cardiac arrest. He received active rewarming measures, including pleural lavage, gastric lavage, an intravascular heat exchange catheter, and cardiopulmonary bypass.

Objective: Accurate medical evaluation of victims injured during confined space rescues poses significant operational, medical, and logistical challenges for medical providers of all disciplines and experience levels. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) teaches rescuers to begin their assessment as soon as verbal contact is obtained with the victim. While a significant amount of information can be obtained by talking to the victim, an accurate assessment of the victim's condition is often limited or impossible.

Knowledge of sudden cardiac death in young athletes is imperative for all physicians and allied health professionals. The complete differential diagnosis of a young patient with sudden cardiac arrest will result in proper work-up and treatment. In this article, we review several etiologies of sudden cardiac death, including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, and commotio cordis.

A family of heteroleptic (C;N)2Ir(acac) and homoleptic fac-Ir(C;N)3 complexes have been synthesized and their photophysical properties studied (where C;N = a substituted 2-phenylpyridine and acac = acetylacetonate). The neutral Delta and Lambda complexes were separated with greater than 95% enantiomeric purity by chiral supercritical fluid chromatography, and the solution circular dichroism and circularly polarized luminescence spectra for each of the enantio-enriched iridium complexes were obtained. The experimentally measured emission dissymmetries (gem) for this series compared well with predicted values provided by time-dependent density functional theory calculations.
