Objectives: To highlight the feasibility of employing super-thin ALT free flaps for reconstruction of complex oral cavity and oropharyngeal defects.

Results: Sixteen super-thin ALT free flaps were performed in 15 patients between 2020 and 2023 for reconstruction of oral cavity defects (seven oral tongue, three floor of mouth, three buccal, two oropharynx, one lower lip).

Purpose: This practice parameter for the performance of proton beam radiation therapy was revised collaboratively by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Radium Society (ARS). Absence of published literature on facial plastic and reconstructive surgery (FPRS) fellows' pursuit of academic careers hampers informed decision making for those interested in the specialty, fellowship program directors, and leaders in the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. To examine career choices among FPRS fellows from 2000 to 2019 and identify factors linked to academic or private practice employment after fellowship. Data from 796 fellows were analyzed, including gender, medical school, residency program, fellowship program, fellowship year, and degrees, to categorize them based on academic or nonacademic career placement.

Cyclic AMP (cAMP) has a key role in psoriasis pathogenesis, as indicated by the therapeutic efficacy of phosphodiesterase inhibitors that prevent the degradation of cAMP. The biomechanics and efficacy of personal protective equipment in mitigating injuries from blast overpressure remain unclear. The objectives of this study were to define intrathoracic pressures in response to blast wave (BW) exposure and biomechanically evaluate a soft-armor vest (SA) at diminishing these perturbations. Cyclic AMP (cAMP) signaling is localized to multiple spatially distinct microdomains, but the role of cAMP microdomains in cancer cell biology is poorly understood. Here, we present a tunable genetic system that allows us to activate cAMP signaling in specific microdomains. We uncover a nuclear cAMP microdomain that activates a tumor-suppressive pathway in a broad range of cancers by inhibiting YAP, a key effector protein of the Hippo pathway, inside the nucleus.
