Introduction: Acute exposure to e-cigarette aerosol has been shown to have potentially deleterious effects on the cardiovascular system. However, the cardiovascular effects of habitual e-cigarette use have not been fully elucidated. Synopsis of recent research by authors named "Michael Patatanian"

  • Michael Patatanian's research focuses on understanding the cardiovascular and inflammatory impacts of e-cigarette use and the unique pathobiology of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in different patient populations.
  • His study on single-cell transcriptomics highlights the distinct molecular mechanisms and treatment challenges faced by patients with systemic sclerosis-associated PAH compared to idiopathic PAH, suggesting avenues for precision medicine.
  • Additionally, Patatanian's investigations into the effects of habitual e-cigarette use reveal associations with endothelial dysfunction and gingival inflammation, underscoring the potential cardiovascular risks and oral health implications of e-cigarette smoking in young adults.
