Objective: To investigate the proportions and trends in gender ratios of journal editorial boards in medicine, nursing, and pharmacy from 1995 to 2016.
Design: This was a pooled cross-sectional evaluation of 21 high-impact medical, nursing, and pharmacy journals.
Setting And Participants: The gender composition of editorial boards for each discipline was obtained.
Purpose: To provide a current directory of drug information centers (DICs) in the United States and present information about their characteristics, activities and services, and networking activities.
Methods: In February 2018, an electronic 23-question survey was delivered to 118 contacts on a distribution list compiled from previous directories of DICs, responses to listserv messages, and an Internet search. DICs, defined as formal centers dedicated to providing drug information services, including but not limited to responding to drug information requests, were asked questions about their characteristics, activities and services, drug information requests, and networking activities.
The purpose of our review is to summarize the clinical activity of oral targeted agents against brain metastases. This includes BRAF inhibitors (dabrafenib and vemurafenib), human epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors (lapatinib, gefitinib, erlotinib, and afatinib), multi-kinase angiogenesis inhibitors (sorafenib, sunitinib, pazopanib, and vandetanib), and ALK/c-MET (crizotinib) and ALK/IGF-1 (ceritinib) inhibitors. Effective systemic therapies are needed for long-term benefit in brain metastases and documentation of intracranial activity for many therapies is poor.

This complexity is exacerbated by the availability of multiple TMZ capsule strengths. TMZ is an alkylating agent and the major toxicity of this class is dose-related myelosuppression.

The combination of widespread neuro-axial spread based on CSF flow and the blood-brain barrier (BBB) has favored immediate local delivery of antineoplastic agents. With the BBB, the leptomeninges can be a sanctuary site to systemic cancers and goal of therapy includes preventing involvement in this space.

Data Sources: Literature was accessed via MEDLINE (1950-April 2010) using the search terms peramivir, BCX-1812, RWJ 270201, influenza H1N1, swine influenza, and neuraminidase inhibitors. The manufacturer of peramivir, BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, was contacted for unpublished data and information presented at recent scientific meetings.
Infant botulism, a disease that results in a blockade of voluntary motor and autonomic functions, was first recognized in the United States in the late 1970s. Since then, more than 1000 cases in this country have been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Numerous studies have shown that the ingestion of honey is linked with infant botulism.

Data Sources: Pertinent literature was identified through a MEDLINE search (1966-September 2001) and through other secondary literature databases and/or bibliographies of pertinent articles.
Data Synthesis: Cardiovascular disease is a common cause of morbidity and mortality among the general population, with well-defined risk factors (e.
Galactogogues are medications that aid in initiating and maintaining adequate milk production. Most exert their pharmacologic effects through interactions with dopamine receptors, resulting in increased prolactin levels and thereby augmenting milk supply. Metoclopramide remains the galactogogue of choice due to its documented record of efficacy and safety in women and infants.

Specifically, case reports and open-label trials are summarized involving the use of factor VIII and recombinant factor VIIa for a variety of indications including surgical prophylaxis, acute bleeding, primary prevention, and management of inhibitors. In addition, issues surrounding the use of continuous infusion of factor products such as pharmacokinetic rationale, stability/sterility, and cost are reviewed.
