Bayesian optimization of nanophotonic electromagnetic shielding with very high visible transparency.

Transparent electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding is needed in many optoelectronic applications to protect electronic devices from surrounding radiation while allowing for high visible light transmission. However, very high transmission (over 92.5%), high EMI shielding efficiency (over 30 dB) structures have yet to be achieved in the literature.

On the Dynamics of the Inclination Instability.

Axisymmetric disks of eccentric Kepler orbits are vulnerable to an instability that causes orbits to exponentially grow in inclination, decrease in eccentricity, and cluster in their angle of pericenter. Geometrically, the disk expands to a cone shape that is asymmetric about the mid-plane. In this paper, we describe how secular gravitational torques between individual orbits drive this "inclination instability".

Processing implicit control: evidence from reading times.

Sentences such as "The ship was sunk to collect the insurance" exhibit an unusual form of anaphora, implicit control, where neither anaphor nor antecedent is audible. The non-finite reason clause has an understood subject, PRO, that is anaphoric; here it may be understood as naming the agent of the event of the host clause. Yet since the host is a short passive, this agent is realized by no audible dependent.

Cement spacer as definitive management for postoperative ankle infection.

Background: Postoperative infection can be a devastating complication of ankle replacement and arthrodesis surgery. Management consists of eradication of the infection and either, revision of the initial surgery or some form of salvage procedure. There are instances however when the patient is asymptomatic, medically unfit, or the local tissue is too tenuous to warrant performing additional surgery.

Interval changes in postoperative range of motion of Salto-Talaris total ankle replacement.

The purpose of the present study was to identify changes in the range of motion during the first year after placement of the Salto-Talaris total ankle implant. The first 97 cases were assessed throughout the year at 6 weeks and 3, 6, and 12 months. Data were extracted through retrospective chart review, operative reports, and electronic goniometry of the implant in maximal dorsiflexion and plantarflexion.
