Prophylactic antibiotics for non-laboring patients with intact membranes undergoing cesarean delivery: an economic analysis.

Objective: We conducted an economic analysis of prophylactic antibiotic administration for elective cesarean delivery.

Study Design: We created a decision tree comparing the use of prophylactic antibiotics (cefazolin 1 gm intravenous) with no antibiotic use. We modeled the potential for anaphylaxis, and included outcomes of fever and endometritis.
