Separation of (Z)- and (E)-isomers of thioxanthene and dibenz[b,e]oxepin derivatives with calixarenes and resorcinarenes as additives in nonaqueous capillary electrophoresis.

Five acidic calix[4]arenes with carboxylic or sulfonic groups at either the upper or lower rim of the cavity and one resorc[4]arene were investigated to separate three thioxanthenes (flupentixol, clopenthixol, chlorprothixene) and a dibenz[b,e]oxepin derivative (doxepin) with cis-/trans-isomerism by nonaqueous capillary electrophoresis (NACE). Partial filling of the capillary with the UV-absorbing selectors led to a low detection limit and an advantageous signal-to-noise ratio (S/N). A sufficient electrophoretic mobility of the calixarenes towards the anode was necessary to outweigh the oppositely directed electroosmotic flow (EOF).

B0-->D(*-)a(+)(1): chirality tests and resolving an ambiguity in the CP violation parameter 2beta+gamma.

We point out that the decays of B mesons into a vector meson and an axial-vector meson can distinguish between left and right-handed polarized mesons, in contrast to decays into two vector mesons. Measurements in B0-->D(*-)a(+)(1) are proposed for testing factorization and the V-A structure of the b-->c current, and for resolving a discrete ambiguity in 2beta+gamma.

Measuring the photon polarization in B -->Kpipigamma.

We propose a way of measuring the photon polarization in radiative B decays into K resonance states decaying to Kpipi, which can test the standard model and probe new physics. The photon polarization is shown to be measured by the up-down asymmetry of the photon direction relative to the Kpipi decay plane in the K resonance rest frame. The integrated asymmetry in K1(1400)-->Kpipi, calculated to be 0.
