Mantodea of Panguana (Insecta: Dictyoptera).

We present here the first illustrated checklist of the praying mantids (Mantodea) collected at the Panguana Field Station in Central Peru over the course of 50 years. The examination of over 430 specimens obtained mainly by light-trapping, but also other methods, revealed 44 species in 28 genera. Mantoida brunneriana, Mantoida cf.

Case reports: transient osteoporosis of the hip: an atypical case.

We present the case report of a 37 year-old woman who had transient osteoporosis in her third trimester of pregnancy. The condition spread beyond the hips and involved all six major joints of the lower limbs. The polyarticular involvement is the first to our knowledge.

Primary bacterial pyomyositis associated with septic arthritis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes: a case report.

Pyomyositis is relatively rare in temperate climates. This is the first report of a case of calf pyomyositis associated with septic arthritis of the knee. This case illustrates that pyomyositis should be included in the differential diagnosis of a swollen, tender calf in an emergency setting.

Wound blisters post hip surgery: a prospective trial comparing dressings.

Introduction: Wound blisters are formed in the epidermis adjacent to surgical incisions and are a significant cause of morbidity following hip surgery. This study was designed to compare two commonly used primary dressings, namely a nonadherent absorbable (NAA) dressing and paraffin tulle gras (PTG). Monitoring for the subsequent development of wound blisters in the epidermis adjacent to the surgical incision was then undertaken.
