Posterolateral corner and arcuate fractures can cause significant disruption to the stability and kinematics of the knee. This study aimed to determine the biomechanical performance of a novel spiked washer (SW) and intramedullary screw technique compared with a tension slide technique (TST) for the repair of arcuate fractures. Sixteen matched fresh-frozen cadaver knees underwent repair.

The purpose of this study was to determine if patients who had an ACL-deficient knee who underwent lateral UKA had similar mean 10-year outcomes compared to patients who had an ACL-intact knee and lateral UKA.
Methods: Patients who underwent a lateral UKA with ACL deficiency by a single surgeon between 2004 and 2016 were identified.
The suture combination of a Krackow stitch plus a whipstitch can be used to strengthen a tendon rupture repair. We compared biomechanical outcomes of suture repair techniques for distal biceps tendon ruptures using a single Krackow stitch with and without a whipstitch and a whip-stitch alone. Data were obtained from 36 thawed porcine flexor profundus tendons.

Patients often present with localized swelling and ecchymosis, muscular deformity, thinning of the anterior axillary fold, and weakness in adduction and internal rotation of the affected arm. History and physical is often augmented with radiology, magnetic resonance imaging of the chest being the gold standard.

Recent literature has suggested that suture anchor repair is biomechanically superior to the use of transosseous tunnels. Augmentation of the transosseous technique with Nice knots may result in improved biomechanical properties as compared with a suture anchor construct.

The iliac crest can be used for pin placement, but supra-acetabular pin placement is biomechanically superior. Traditionally, supra-acetabular pin placement is performed in the operating room, with time-consuming imaging techniques.

Intricate pelvic anatomy and overhanging greater trochanter make obtaining proper screw trajectory difficult. A large measurement may represent aberrant trajectory and breach of the articular surface.

The American Heart Association (AHA) and American College of Cardiology (ACC) Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) were created to standardize preoperative cardiology consultation and transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE). This study's purpose is to determine if these practices are over used and delay time to surgery at a safety net hospital.
