In this work, a polymeric blend of polyaniline (PAni) and chitosan (Chi), modified with Sucrose Octaacetate (SOA), was synthesized and characterized using different techniques. The blend was used as an adsorbent to remove Remazol Black (RB) dye from aqueous solutions. The blend was synthesized using the chemical oxidation method with ammonium persulfate as the oxidizing agent.

Solid Lipid Nanoparticles Based on Babassu Oil and Copaiba Oleoresin: A Promising Approach for Prostate Cancer Therapy.

Solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) represent promising nanostructures for drug delivery systems. This study successfully synthesized SLNs containing different proportions of babassu oil (BBS) and copaiba oleoresin (COPA) via the emulsification-ultrasonication method. Before SLN synthesis, the identification and quantification of methyl esters, such as lauric acid and β-caryophyllene, were performed via GC-MS analysis.

Discovery of a new pyrido[2,3-]pyridazine-2,8-dione derivative as a potential anti-inflammatory agent through COX-1/COX-2 dual inhibition.

In this paper, we present the design and synthesis of a novel series of pyrido[2,3-]pyridazine-2,8-dione derivatives the annulation of the 2-pyridone pattern. The synthesized derivatives were evaluated for anti-inflammatory activity using an ear edema model. Compound 7c, which showed a greater inhibition of ear edema (82%), was further tested for its COX-1/COX-2 inhibitory activity.

Do patients with obesity undergoing bariatric surgery modify their objectively measured physical activity? A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Obesity is a chronic disease associated with adverse outcomes and its prevalence is increasing, which makes it a concern. One of the obesity treatment options is bariatric surgery, which effectively reduces calorie absorption and total body mass, but its effects on physical activity (PA) levels need to be clarified, considering the protective effect of the PA against cardiovascular disease, independently of the weight loss alone.

Objectives: To carry out a systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies that evaluated PA in pre- and post-bariatric surgery periods through objective evaluation.

Objective: To investigate the clustering of health risk behaviors (HRB) and its association with demographics, physical exercise, overweight, perception of health, and diseases in Brazilian pregnant people.

Study Design: This is a cross-sectional study using data from the Risk Factor Surveillance System for Non-communicable Chronic Diseases by Telephone Survey (VIGITEL), the main health survey in Brazil.

Methods: We used data on fruit and vegetable consumption, TV time, tobacco, and alcohol abuse in individuals who reported being pregnant (n = 4553).

A few epidemiological studies are evaluating the prevalence and mortality rates of Alzheimer's disease, with no one using a nationwide sample of Brazilian elderlies. This study aims to calculate the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease and investigate possible associations with sociodemographic and lifestyle factors and the presence of diseases non-communicable, and the prevalence and mortality for all Brazilian state capitals. This is an ecological design study made with secondary public data provided by the Ministry of Health.

Objective: To verify the association between exercise and free time sport types and binge drinking in a large sample of adults.

Methods: Data of 718,147 adults from the "Surveillance of Risk and Protection Factors for Chronic Diseases by Telephone Survey" were used. We described the demographic and behavioral variables, and negative binomial regression analyzed the association between exercise and free time sport types and binge drinking adjusted by demographics variables, body mass index status, and television time.

Self-Medication during the COVID-19 Pandemic in Brazil: Findings and Implications to Promote the Rational Use of Medicines.

Self-medication is identified by the consumption of medications without a prescription or guidance from a qualified prescribing professional. This study estimated the prevalence, profile, and associated factors with self-medication during the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. A cross-sectional study was conducted through a household survey in the Alegre city, from November to December 2021.

The Relationship between Physical Activity, Sleep Quality, and Stress: A Study of Teachers during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic prompted chaotic changes in the daily lives of K-12 teachers, resulting in increased stress and other mental health problems. Limited evidence regarding the relationship between physical activity, sleep, and perceived stress among teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic exists. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the association between physical activity, sleep quality, and perceived psychological stress among teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Daridorexant for the treatment of insomnia disorder: findings and implications.

Purpose: The involvement of the orexin system in the physiopathology of insomnia has been rapidly increasing in understanding. In this sense, daridorexant was the third orexin receptor antagonist approved by the FDA in January 2022. This review aims to summarize the chemistry, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, efficacy, safety, and tolerability profile of daridorexant for the treatment of insomnia disorder.

Regiodivergent Synthesis of 3,4- and 4,5-Disubstituted -Methylpyrazoles from 4-Acyl-1-pyrrole-2,3-dione and Methylhydrazine.

A simple, efficient and highly regioselective method for the preparation of 3,4- and 4,5-disubstituted -methylpyrazoles in a one-pot procedure is reported. The methodology developed was based on the regiochemical control of the reaction of 4-acyl-1-pyrrole-2,3-diones and methylhydrazine with an influence of the addition or absence of acid and the substrate structure.

This article analyzes whether Canada's present approach to regulating health-related artificial intelligence (AI) can address relevant safety-related challenges. Focusing primarily on Health Canada's regulation of medical devices with AI, it examines whether the existing regulatory approach can adequately address general safety concerns, as well as those related to algorithmic bias and challenges posed by the intersections of these concerns with privacy and security interests. It identifies several issues and proposes reforms that aim to ensure that Canadians can access beneficial AI while keeping unsafe products off Canadian markets and motivating safe, effective use of AI products for appropriate purposes and populations.

TransCon human growth hormone for children with growth hormone deficiency: a technology evaluation.

Introduction: Standard-of-care treatment for growth hormone deficiency consists of daily subcutaneous injections of recombinant human growth hormone, also known as somatropin. Although somatropin treatment is well established, the burden of daily injections can lead to poor adherence and quality of life. In this regard, a TransCon human growth hormone (lonapegsomatropin-tcgd) technology was developed to optimize the therapeutic effect of daily somatropin for the treatment of children with growth hormone deficiency.
