Objective: This study was designed to answer the question of whether the experience level of the resident on his/her first month of adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology has an impact on operating room efficiency in a large academic medical center. Traditionally, the resident's 1st month of cardiac anesthesia had been reserved for the clinical anesthesia (CA)-2 year of training. This study analyzed the impact on operating room efficiency of moving the 1st month of cardiac anesthesia into the CA-1 year.

Aim: To retrospectively compare the effects of two very low energy diets (VLED) on weight, girths, and health status by auditing clinic database.

Methods: Obese women (n = 150) who consumed either 420 kcal/day (n = 75) or 800 kcal/day (n = 75) were retrospectively matched for age, height and entry weight. The 26-week program comprised 12 weeks of 420 or 800 kcal/day energy intake then 12 weeks of reintroduction of normal food, with behavioural management.
