Cholelithiasis and its complications are among the most prevalent and costly medical conditions in the United States. Chronic gallbladder disease can progress into more complicated conditions, such as a cholecystoenteric fistula and, more specifically, a cholecystoduodenal fistula (CDF). Repair of these fistulas is complex and usually performed with an open approach.

Actin waves are F-actin-rich entities traveling on the ventral plasma membrane by the treadmilling mechanism. Actin waves were first discovered and are best characterized in Dictyostelium. Class I myosins are unconventional monomeric myosins that bind lipids through their tails.

Evaluation of two nitrous oxide scavenging systems using infrared thermography to visualize and control emissions.

Background: The authors conducted a study to determine the effectiveness of two waste anesthetic gas-scavenging systems. They also evaluated one of the systems to determine the effect of work practices in controlling waste nitrous oxide (N2O).

Methods: The authors collected a minimum of 13 data sets in each phase of the study that included infrared thermography, digital videography and real-time air analysis for ambient concentrations of waste N2O.
