BACKGROUND ThinPrep Cytolyt is a methanol-based cell preservation solution frequently used to fix tissue samples immediately following endobronchial ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration. Currently, no published reports describe an iatrogenic exposure to Cytolyt. We report the only known case of an accidental intraoperative administration of a methanol solution, with corresponding plasma concentrations, and successful treatment with fomepizole.

The study's objective was to identify typical aerobic isolates from commercial, corn-soybean meal poultry diets utilizing 16S rDNA, assign them their corresponding taxonomy, and compare the data with the previously published WGS analysis of these same isolates. Ten grams of a commercial corn-soybean meal poultry diet was homogenized in 100 mL of tryptic soy broth for 2 min, serially diluted, plated onto tryptic soy agar (TSA), and incubated aerobically for 24 h at 37 °C. The results of trials with sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors raised the possibility that this class of drugs provides cardiovascular benefits independently from their anti-diabetic effects, although the mechanisms are unknown. Therefore, we tested the effects of SGLT2 inhibitor dapagliflozin on the progression of experimental heart disease in a non-diabetic model of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
